I too am quite intrigued with the Ramcharger.

I probably wouldn’t touch it for at least first 2-3 years to see how it holds up.

So that alone would push me to Powerboost if buying today.

PB i waited 2+ years to buy. And I also considered the engine and trans it bolts too have been around for a very long time. No guarantees but I was ok with that gamble.

I tell you guys what, given the amount of time I've had my new 2025 laramie ram and the trouble I've had, there's no way in hell I'd buy a ramcharger before at least a couple of model years had passed. There's waaaaay less new in my truck vs the ramcharger and they've screwed up some stuff big time. They may end up getting it ironed out, but the customer definitely ended up as the beta tester on this one. The fact that stellantis has laid off a ton of engineers recently also doesn't bode well. I can say with certainty that had I fully realized how widespread problems with check engine lights coming on and misfire codes are I would not have bought the truck. I don't believe gm or ford makes a truck in the same price class that rides as well or is as nice inside as the ram, but if the damn thing is in the shop all the time that doesn't help all that much. The ironic thing about this is that someone on this forum, I forget who, posted a link to the thread on a ram site talking about the exact problem I just mentioned. At the time he posted it I did not realize the size of the problem, and questioned why he posted it. I understand now!

Are they having trouble getting this out or what? Nothing more on it for 9 months or so. Figured 0-60 would be more impressive -- this is stock powerboost w/ a 91 tune on it so this thing has some mass to it.

Their V2x capability is questionable as well -- one plug socket can't deliver 4.8kW so is this where you have to use the plug in the bed plus a plug in the cab to get 4.8kW, or option a different plug configuration? I can't see them having a 4.8 and 7.2kW inverter, plus they're mentioning V2h capability but nothing further

I dunno, I haven't studied the ramcharger at all. You're right, nobody is getting 4.8 kW out of a standard 120V outlet.

I would still have my 2003 Ram 2500 Cummins if Hurricane Harvey hadn't drowned it while I was in Colorado on top of a mountain with my Ecoboost.

So I am not a diehard anti-Ram guy.
I used that truck for any and all the heavy stuff like hauling pallets of sod and dragging my tractor around on occasion. I miss it and have never found a replacement for it.

Still, I think Stellantis is a huge mess right now compared to the dysfunction of Ford or GM. While none of them are "hitting on all cylinders" right now, so to speak, I still give Ford the nod in statistical probability of getting a reliable good performing vehicle.

The bar just isn't quite as high as it was a few years ago.

I believe you're correct on all that. I've had lots of dodge trucks in the past, and had good luck with them, so I really failed to do adequate research before I bought this one. I still have my early '98 dodge dually (it has the 12v still, unlike the later '98's) that I've had for 19 years now, and a '97 2500 auto 4wd that I nicknamed the clattering nightmare. It has gotten me around when the 2025 ram was in the shop. I strongly suspect it will again.

Seeing how many new vehicles are still on the lots, maybe with production dialed back a bit GM, Ford and RAM can get better at QC'ing these trucks.

On that note, I saw this ad pop up in my feed. They still have 23's sitting on lots

I was like, those prices are nowhere near right, then I noticed the location.

In the US at least the lightning platinum just isn't a competitive vehicle. The $7,500 'free money' is gated to sub $80k MSRP so going from a lariat to a platinum costs ~$15k.

They both are quite discounted.
Wasn't too long ago Lightings and Broncos were selling for above MSRP and none could be had.
Now 23's are still on lots when the 25's are out....

Yeah, sorry. Should've specified it was CDN. Not sure how they got a lightning to an msrp of 117K.
I just built a Platinum Lightning added every option and It came out to 108K.

Shitty dealer tactics they're allowed to get away with. I'd love to see ballot initiatives for each state at least where a group of people can just get a petition going for something to be put on the ballot come election time whereby the g00bment and their donors could be bypassed, pushing common sense laws especially on pricing / advertising.

Something simple like
"Discount advertised price cannot have any qualifiers that do not apply to all in-state buyers (ie: any/every state resident must be eligible for advertised promotional price), and the 'discount' / price difference must use actual MSRP. Every advertised price must include ALL fees with no hidden surcharges, add-ons, or extras (ie: documentation, inventory, or paperwork fees). Pricing does not need to include tax/title fees strictly of govt/municipality origin (ie: the seller cannot charge tax, title, or registration fees under the guise of performing their duties in regards to the collection and forwarding of such fees/taxes to the proper authority). Any disputes/questions arising from this rule shall be interpreted in a manner that is most beneficial to the customer.

Not sure why only car dealers are the ones who can play these games. Imagine all advertised prices including things like employee / military style discounts already included. What a shitshow that'd be huh? Sales tax is already enough of a surprise to deal with especially on multi-tiered things like food where cold food and hot food can be at different rates because one is "prepared".

If you can't actually purchase and drive home a Ramcharger the question remains silly.

The Ramcharger might as well be a Tardis for this discussion.

A tuned powerboost hits 4.4?? Do you know what the 1/4 is? That's actually pretty nuts

Mid 12s, to high 11s completely stock. 0-60 of 4 even tesla style (1 foot rollout) is easy.

Ah well the rollout is a little cheating.
I wish you were my salesman, you make a good point for the powerboost
