Thinking to trade in my 22' platinum powerboost for an F-250 or F-350 with the 7.3.

Any advice? I tow occasionally and up in the mountains it feels like the trans is not happy. Hopefully the 10R140 holds up better.

Have you received any numbers on price for the PowerBoost?I was thinking of trading in my Silverado 1500 and doing the same but half ton truck prices are not very good right now on used.In 2-1/2 years mine has lost 27k of off msrp that is if I traded it in.Truck only has 22k on it also.

I kept my 2022 KingRanch Powerboost

I just can't let it get away from me until someone builds something that can match its utility.

But, I also wanted an F350 for the ~5000lbs of Payload

So I just bit the bullet and grabbed an XLT with the 7.3/10R140

It stings a little making the payment on a truck that I only choose over the Powerboost on seldom occasions. But an XLT F350 CrewCab Longbed F350 7.3/10R140 can be had for about $25k less than the KingRanch Powerboost MSRP. The dang thing feels like a bargain!

If Ford does in fact release a SuperDuty Powerboost (High Voltage battery/inverter version), THEN I could live with 1 truck and take the depreciation hit. But not before that!

Oh nice I have built some Superdities online and seems like they are cheaper then a loaded up xlt powerboost.Of course I didn’t load the super duties up with options so that is the route I think I am going to go.How do you like the 7.3 I have read good things about it?

Absolutely love the 7.3

Note that you have to step up to the XLT to get the 7.3 now. Or put another way, an XL or STX, as much of a bargain as they are, recently changed to where you get the 6.8/10R100

Not saying there is anything wrong with either, but I wanted the most robust non-diesel I could get, at the lowest MSRP and the highest Payload.

If I was going to have both trucks, I wanted the SuperDuty and Powerboost to have the least overlap possible.

Respect for that thought process

XL is still available with 7.3

Yeah, I might have misspoken with saying absolutes regarding the options. It feels like Ford went back & forth on the 2024 vs 2025 vs now the 2026.

Since I haven't researched the most recent changes for 2026, I shouldn't have described the drivetrain options the way I did

Yes. After some back and forth they offered me $45k (62k miles fully loaded platinum). They have a loaded F-250 platinum for $87k. Another dealer has a F-350 platinum that looks like same equipped except the FX4 and sunroof for $81k. I wonder if the F-350 would be the better option. It has a stronger axle and more springs already only the skid plates missing. I never use the sunroof anyway so that wouldn't be a problem. I am a sucker for gadgets so I can't go lower than platinum. :)

You may want to verify if the F250 gets the 10R140. I believe starting with MY25, the F250 has the 10R100 with the 7.3.

I think THAT is what I was confusing above. It wasn't (just) the trim limiting certain drivetrain options, but also (rather) the 3/4 vs 1 ton options.

My geezer memory isn't as reliable as it once was.

Don’t beat yourself up. It’s hard to keto track of all this stuff. I almost bought a new Super Duty before finding this truck, so I did my homework. No matter what, all the 10 speeds have issues. Less after MY22.

I’m doing the same with my E-450 motorhome. Increased payload with very little overlap 😊
