Interesting.

First I've heard of the mild hybrid Hemi, other than the previous pretend belt driven hybrid.
Wasn’t the last Hemi version a “mild” hybrid? eTorque that’s what they called it.

Yes, that's exactly what he's talking about. The belt driven gayness. Not gayness because it's belt driven, but gayness because of how little difference it makes vs not having it.

Looks like the Ramcharger may be pushed back a quarter. I believe they were targeting some arriving at dealerships in Q4 2025 (December) but now it looks like they are saying Q1 2026. I can't find anything really definitive, but rumor has it.

I hope it is just a "polishing" push or production scheduling issue. We will see. More time for Ford to give the SuperDuty PB or PB V2 a marketing release. (We can only hope)

Made in Mexico is just hard though. I know it’s mostly in the consumers’ minds but we all check where our F-150s are made and I admit to being pleased my PowerBoost was made in Dearborn ??‍♂
The Tacoma I sold when I bought my powerboost was made in Mexico. As far as Toyotas are concerned, it was the biggest piece of shit I’ve ever owned.

I test drove a TRD Pro with the iForce Max.......totally unimpressed. At this point, I'm considering another Powerboost when the warranty expires on my current one.......but an OBS Ford with LS swap could be my forever truck/family heirloom. My son has already talked about wanting to work on a project with me and has signed up for welding and auto tech classes, so it seems like I've got another three years to capitalize on my time left before he graduates.

Why in the hell would you put a GM motor in a Ford?

"LS swap" has applied to almost every make model vehicle you can think of.

Often less about homage/loyalty to GM, and more about simplification, reliability, and availability.

Although I do admit, being a Ford fan, the Godzilla is begging to be the other LS. ?

Ya, I don't get it when you put them in Volkswagens either.

I haven’t reread the thread but I think my point was I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I learn:

Frame and body stampings: Dearborn Stamping Plant, Michigan

Transmission (10R80 MHT): Livonia Transmission Plant, Michigan

Hybrid Battery Pack: Rawsonville Components Plant, Ypsilanti, Michigan

Engine (3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid): Cleveland Engine Plant, Ohio

Final Assembly: Dearborn Truck Plant, Michigan

First On Race Day

Hey to each their own. Mexican frame and a Mexican motor all lovingly put together for you by Stellantis. Ram 1500 Hurricane.

It absolutely can be a better built truck than mine, but perception and reputation are what warm fuzzies are made of.

I've daily'd the Mach-E for 15 months now. And unlike my trucks or the Porsche, I treat the Mach-E like a beater.
Never give it a second "to warm up" or cool down. And I LAUNCH it a few times every single time I drive it. (addictive)

I do keep it clean, but there's really nothing I can do to it beyond rotate the tire.

My point being that unlike my Ford trucks, this car was assembled in Mexico. At this point I'm convinced it's the best put together vehicle I own. No matter how picky I'm willing to be, the Mach-E is just better built and assembled. And it's tighter at 15,000 miles than anything else I've owned. Although the Porsche is pretty dang tight and squeek free at 50,000/19 years.

The Maverick is soon to arrive and it too was assembled in Mexico. I'm assuming that fact in and of itself shouldn't be a reason for concern.

That’s great to hear! Perhaps I’m being hypocritical or just unclear, but warm fuzzy feelings take time. Over time Mexico may well be, by testimonials like that, the desired build location in North America or the world for that matter. It is not today however, and Ram replacing their venerable Hemi with a small Mexican made turbo six was a huge risk and needed to be near flawless execution with those natural headwinds. Now they’re bringing back the Hemi. That is not a good sign, but I understand the pressure. No one was buying the new truck with that engine. I’m trying to explain why. Doesn’t make it right or wrong. Much like the damage CR did to the PB. Everything wrong with the 14th gen was the hybrids fault.

If you go to an auction or car show, most of the ford hotrods have chevy 350s in them.

I finally asked, and apparently it's a lot easier to refit a chevy 350 to just about anything than it is to put a newer ford engine into an old ford.

As for the Mach E, I'd probably consider it, IF ford would stop pretending that it's a Mustang!

As for the Ramcharger, I'm continually losing faith in it ever appearing. Although another year might not be such a bad thing; we're moving, and I'd rather not park an $80k vehicle outside in my current neighborhood . . . so even mid 2026 arrival might work. (Or, maybe ford restores the options on the powerboost that I've been holding out for. I guess the first one wins!)

I'm not sure that it's a valid claim on my part that the Mach-E is so well put together because it's assembled in Mexico, rather than some assembly plant in the states. But I am claiming being assembled in Mexico didn't result in an inferior assembly.

I also am of the opinion that a less impressive vehicle that just so happens to be assembled in Mexico, might be a disappointment for other reasons than the assembly itself.

My daughter (in-law) was hell bent on getting a Tacoma. She was convinced it was the only truck in the world that she was interested in. My son fetched her the one she wanted and within just a few months she was taking his F150 to work every day, while leaving the Tacoma parked. (my son had a dedicated county sheriff unit to drive)

Nothing that she described as its shortcomings had anything to do with assembly. It was 100% design and performance complaints. (I disliked it more than she did. But I already knew before she got it)

Anyways, I'm just saying that I give the credit to how impressive my Powerboost is to the folks that designed the whole package and the execution of getting it from paper to a finished product. The role the Dearborn assembly played in it, as well as the component suppliers involved....... I'm just happy they did a good enough job that I haven't had to deal with the post-sale dealership shortcomings. ?
