Power-Up 6.5.0 Installed

Well team… I’ve got a story that’s gonna defy logic for you.

So I posted in the previous page that this was the first update I was having trouble with. I suspected a low state of charge due to the fact I’m not driving the truck as much anymore.

But even after ensuring the truck was on for at least 45 minutes or longer I still could not get the update to install.

Last night I tried all the tricks, hiding the phone and the keys in the microwave, etc. Nothing would work, so I just gave up and went to bed.

And despite having temperatures in the 20s last night, and my truck sitting in the driveway, it somehow decided to update at 1 AM lol

So if it was the state of charge, causing an issue, I’m not really sure how that was better at one in the morning when it’s freezing out.

I just received 6.5.0 this afternoon. Did the update now rather than wait till 12:10 am. I should see 6.8.0 between Christmas and New Years, maybe sooner.

I got 6,.5.0 today, I checked for updates before I left my driveway and none available… drove to client meeting and after the meeting I was checking email in the truck and talking to one of my employees and it popped up the screen that I had a update waiting , so I ran it in the parking lot of the coffee shop, took about 15 mins

now the wait for 6.8.0

I received a notice this morning that 6.5.0 was going to install at my next scheduled auto update time which was 1:00AM Monday. I had to run an errand today and when I arrived home at 10:50 AM, I scheduled an auto update for 11:00 AM to see if it would go. At 11:30Am, I received a notice that 6.5.0 had successfully installed.

6.5.0 is a quick one. I had the DOR-UP2 in queue immediately after it. Still waiting for 6.8.0 to show up.

Since my truck has had no problems, maybe I shouldn't tempt fate but is it normal that a truck built in May of this yr. and entering service in June to have had no updates?

I have auto ota enabled and scheduled for 1 am daily. I've charged the 12V twice, maybe 3 times.

It does not have connection to the home WIFI but I know the modem works, because I tested it on my camper.

No notices, no problems but no updates either.

The auto update feature on these trucks only comes into play after an update has been downloaded to the truck and is only used when the vehicle needs to be inhibited for the install.
The sequence of events for an OTA goes as follows.

The truck is parked anywhere, Ford's computers somehow decide your truck is ready for an update. no one knows when or why. But your truck is sent a trigger by Fords cloud servers, which means a download is waiting.

The next time you start the truck the "trigger" will be confirmed to the cloud and the file download will commence.

Once downloaded the install process will begin immediately and complete while you're driving the truck. UNLESS, the OTA requires the vehicle be inhibited for the install and only in this case will the install use your scheduled time of 1:00 am.

One change I’ve noticed since the update is the new annoying alert when you get out of the truck with the key while it’s running.

Do you mean the horn honk, when you step out of the truck with the key? I had disabled that in Forscan. Or is this a new annoying alert that came with the 6.8.0 OTA.

No I’ve had double honk disabled as well but this is a new alert inside the vehicle. It’s the same alert for when Bluecruise disables and the truck tells you to resume control.

Dropped mine off for recall and warranty work today. Just ota updated to 6.5.0 sitting on the lot. lol

No, I don’t. Truck is still in the shop so I can’t tell any difference yet. ?

Haven't seen anything different for me and I get out with truck running all the time. It says on dash no fob detected but that is normal. Double honk is still disabled.

I didn’t notice it either till my wife said something about it happening till when I was outside the truck with the fob and shut the door to run into a store.
