Glad this thread resurfaced. I'll be doing the back up delete and fuel door pin mods soon.
Ordered the remote version (default on) and the fuel door pin.

Being able to pair it with the home link buttons, is quite a nice feature.

I’ve designed and made my own Pedestrian Alert Speaker Control Unit. The remote control OFF/ON is via the middle garage door opener button on the truck visor.

Since I’m retired, I still like to design & make stuff just for fun of it. Therefore I will not be selling it as a product with headaches of business and liability. It just for the pleasure of keeping mind & spirit active in retirement.

Do you happen to have the connector info?

Got notice of shipment today.

Really looking forward to having this installed before the next camping trip.

Order placed for the fuel door pin and the Speaker Bypass - Premium RC Edition(Default Off). I don't think my truck has the fake engine noise as it is pitch quiet when moving forward in EV mode but I could be wrong. Can't wait to install these two and post my review here!

It's a whirring noise sound. It's there but not obnoxious like the dump truck beeper. If they just made it louder in reverse like the law requires, it would have been fine. Not sure why ford did what they did.

You mean the UFO spacecraft sound? That is definitely there but I kind of liked it!! Can't stand the dump truck back up sound though.

Would it be possible to program the buttons in to the Homelink visor buttons?

I programmed to Homelink in an aftermarket rearview mirror as described a few posts back on this thread, I'm like 99% sure the Homelink mirror I bought would have the same frequency range etc. as the stock visors, should work the same.

@WillB17 just installed the fuel door pin and premium RC speaker bypass. Installation was a breeze and material quality is second to none! I even managed to program the remote to work with one of the Homelink buttons. Thank you!

Hi all, just purchased the remote sounder override. Had one too many nature drives and trailer backups ruined with the blaring speaker underneath. I do believe this is generally a good safety feature though, so I got the default ON version. Love that this is an option!

I would like to wire this to an ignition power source so every time I turn the truck on the speaker reverts to default (on). I couldn't find it skimming the thread, sorry if it's there, but does anyone have a recommendation where to get this connection terminated?

Ah, ok thanks. I skimmed that but I was looking for a connection point for the whole thing, didn't occur to me to use a relay. I'll research this a bit more, thank you.

I was originally looking at the same thing you are for similar rationale. I didn’t stumble across a good ignition-powered spot to easily tap into, so the rostra seemed like the best bet after someone here suggested it. I downloaded a spec sheet somewhere because i was concerned about phantom current drain…can’t remember the number off hand but the rostra was like single digit miliamps or maybe even micro amps when not powered, so seemed like a drop in the bucket compared to all the juice the modules are pulling when the truck is “off”.

Got my kit from Megaohm today, looks and feels great!
Ford F-150 Pedestrian Sounder Delete (No Codes, Easily Reversible) 1000006217

I've been thinking about ignition power for this. How do you all feel about fuse taps? The fuse on this is 3A, so pretty small. Figured I could rob a little power from another circuit:

Fuse box diagram and labels: https://car-fuse.blogspot.com/2020/12/2021-ford-f-150-fuse-panel-diagram.html?m=1

The circled ones are:
19 - 20A - snow plow switch (gas), rear heated seats (gas, diesel, hybrid)
32 - 20A - auxiliary power point
33 - 20A - auxiliary power point, USB smart charger
34 - 20A - auxiliary power point
38 - 40A - climate controlled seat module, power running boards
41 - 25A - power sliding back window
48 - 20A - rear heated seats (tremor, raptor)
108 - 15A - spot lamps (police)
125 - 10A - USB smart charger
139 - 5A - USB smart charger
170 - 10A - pedestrian alert control module, traction battery control module, electric motor cool pump

Was thinking about the pedestrian sounder circuit until I saw it also goes to the traction battery control module... Not sure I want to mess with that. 19-snow plow switch/rear seat heaters sounds good, don't even have either of those. I'll check it for ignition/acc power later, first I need to check if I can get a fuse tap for this style fuse.

Any concerns with this approach?

I ended up not going this route in large part because I didn’t see a straightforward way to get the wire out of the fuse box without wedging it in a lid that should be sealed…will be watching to see what you or someone else comes up with
