2023 PB. I am at 30 K and want to get trans fluid changed. Plan to take to dealer for this service. Is there anything special that I should know and make sure the dealer mechanic knows before he changes the fluid and filter? Anything special with the PB versus standard 3.5EB? Thanks.

Yes, there are 2 rubber tubes that may fall out with the pan down (one cools the electric motor, the other controls the ICE-to-TC clutch). Left cat pipe comes off before the pan can drop.

Thank you for the reply. Is our catalytic converter in a different location than standard 3.5EB? I have seen YouTube videos dropping the pan on 2021 3.5EB without removing pipe.

The PB's hybrid drive unit increases the effective length of the trans. The aux pump is at the back of the trans protruding into the pan.

Would it be easier to replace a faulty aux pump during this procedure?

I mean you can just unplug/unbolt the aux pump at that point so clearly, yes.

Would I be able to drop the pan, change the filter and aux pump in my garage or you would recommend taking it to a shop?

Is there a side fill/dipstick port so I can siphon the fluid out?

Yes, I'd go ahead and replace those rubber tube things while you're at it
Is there a side fill/dipstick port so I can siphon the fluid out?
Yes, passenger side

Ford's recommendation is to change the ATF every 150,000 miles. There is nothing to be gained by shortening this interval. Might as well get the air changed in the tires while the truck is up on the lift.

Ya just totally pulled that one out ya ass
There is very much to gain from regular pan drains, it's called refreshing the additive package.

I changed both my transmission fluid and filter for the first time at 58K.

I never towed or hauled anything more than 1/2 payload, which is about 2/3rds of the total miles.

I'll probably do the next fluid change at 90K and the fluid and filter at 120K for peace of mind and because maintenance is much cheaper than replacing a transmission.

Just remember kids, Fords recommended service intervals are not in your interest of you keeping your truck for 300,000K plus.

Ford is in the selling trucks business, so follow them intervals if you want, but I for one set my own intervals. My 2006 F-150 has 190,000K on the clock and is still kicking, Just Saying IMO.
