Aww, was that {tpc} (or whatever his username was)?

He must have blocked me because he can't handle the truth. LOL.

Another one bites the dust! What a troll.
Just trying to ignore you, but you belabor the point. I already said I’d bow out, yet you continue to quote my post as some mountain you need to conquer.

Congrats, you win.

Yeah but Ford lowered the price on that truck (but also cut content). So the entry price for a 2025 Lariat is ~ $2500 less but now options are limited or things that used to be included are now optional.

That's true, but most people's expectations are pretty simple in that they really only expect the vehicle to do the things it was sold to them specifically capable of doing. The issue here is that there's feature regressions while the price still continues to climb. Fact is ford is trimming rather trivial features from their cost perspective, while charging more for the rest of it. Quite a few of those features are really cheap too. The R&D is done / has been done / doesn't change. For 2024, the 301 XLT came with more standard tech features than pre 24 lariat lows w/ 360 cameras, lane centering, and 12" IPC (21-23 12" IPC is more of a sidegrade IMO vs 8"). Features dealers didn't even bother to add on blue label 500/501 trucks, or in the case of the IPC, wasn't an option.
True, I just mean people used to get excited about power steering and power brakes.
Fords just battling the ones that want more for less, by giving less and charging more. Bad idea.

In general I've found that it is way too absurd to deal with Ford and the F150 new simply due to the lack of value per dollar on the higher trims. The interior quality of a $100k F150 is leagues below a meager $35k A-series Audi but we still buy them. I wasn't expecting much quality on the interior of my XLT but it's a Ford pickup truck. It isn't in their ethos to actually compete from an ergonomics and interior quality standpoint.

A few close folks are car nuts but also need to tow and carry a family. One has a low mile 2020 Durango SRT Hellcat. It can tow nearly as much as my XLT and can comfortably seat 6 adults, gets full-time AWD and boy it scoots at mid 11's stock on the 1/4 and 3.5 to 60. Sure, tucks aren't race cars but heck if you're paying $80k+ for a pickup truck shouldn't it have a few super powers? It should, that's the answer.

Another has a 21 tuned BMW X5M. 10-sec quarter, as above AWD and he can tow nearly as much, fits 6 adults easily and the interior is simply astonishing. The quality is over the top.

The kicker is both were cheaper than my new XLT and I got a great deal : o )

Those of you that say nah I need a truck. I feel you, here in KY on acreage we couldn't function efficiently without one but given the availability of other platforms, no way I'd throw dollars at anything above an XLT when the money saved can be used for for something actually nice.

I'm truly at a loss as to how anybody justifies buying the upper trims short of just having *-u money laying around and even then it still seems foolish.

I'm a little late to the dance with this custom ordering, but glad I got to order when I did.

I owned two Tunrdas before coming over to Ford.....Toyota doesn't really even offer "ordering". And they are even more tied to ridged packages of options.

So in 2022, when I ordered my 2023 F150, I thought it was amazeballs.

However, since then, IMHO Ford has really tweaked things in the wrong direction. No moe keypad? No leather in a Lariat?

Yes, you'll pay a higher monthly payment when buying, but if you buy a truck and pay for it over N years, you'll have an asset at the end of N years. If you lease a couple of trucks during that same N years, you'll have nothing at the end of that N years.

Beyond that, I know FAR too many people who convinced themselves that leasing would be cheaper, but they ended up paying FAR MORE than they thought they would because they went over their mileage, Many ending up buying the car out at the end of the lease (often at a loss, as the car had depreciated more than the predicted contractual amount) because it was cheaper than paying for the mileage, while others had to pay a hefty amount in over miles fees to get rid of it.

Unless you don't care how much you spend and you just want to drive a new vehicle every 2-3 years, leasing is a poor financial decision 99% of the time.
If you use the calculator on Ford's site, both end up being similar. I suppose a lease may have better tax advantages to a business owner. I was playing with options using 16,500 miles per year as I average 15k currently. Just the thought of being restricted sucks. Currently if I drive more, I'll sell the truck sooner.

Really depends on financing rates buying new vs end of lease and tax structuring / deductions / etc...

This is exactly why I got an xlt. Value for what I use. I did shop every other brand and ended up with a more expensive Ford.

2023 Lariat
I’ve been a diehard Ford loyalist for nearly 3 decades. For half of that time purchasing new trucks about every other year. This is the first time that ordering something has not been enjoyable, finding it impossible to get what you want is extremely frustrating. I understand them wanting to simplify ordering and I can appreciate that. A couple of my new trucks were raptors, and those were super simple to order because there just wasn’t a lot of extra options, everything was included in the packages, but this time around with the standard F150 lariat it’s completely different. Options I want aren’t available such as the blackout package in the 157 inch wheelbase. Then in addition, the amount of cuts is super frustrating, example would be the lower LED running lights on the lariat. For giggles I went over to Chevrolet’s website to build price a truck and was amazed that you could spec out a completely loaded truck with a mini diesel, and be significantly cheaper than an F150 platinum. Not wanting to start a Chevy Ford war but has Ford lost their minds with this ordering debacle? I think it’s fine to simplify ordering and include things and packages, but it almost seems like Ford is trying to steer people obviously to the higher price point trucks, what also gets me maybe even more so is the amount of cut items from a lariat trim. Am I the only one that feels this way? I wish there were a way to get some feedback to FMCO.
Hi are the dealer only selling at MSRP or are they negotiating at all

I’m not going to lie, I’m not a fan of Ford’s reduction of ordering options with the F-150, with increased use of packaging and reduction of trim codes. When I ordered my 2022 I had a very specific set of things I wanted, I now can’t replace that combination if/when I need to replace my truck, as 500A doesn’t exist and the Lariat with bench seats and a 2.7 is no longer available. I liked that I could get exactly the truck I wanted, not the one Ford wanted to sell me. I hope they’ll open things back up eventually.
I agree with you I bought my 23 Lariat for the features and now I want a 25 that you cannot get the 2.7 anymore and it has to be 4 wheel drive which I will never use. So if I want a 25 it has to have a bigger motor and 4 wheel drive both lowering fuel economy

The reduced option combinations actually worked to my advantage when I bought my 2024 XL. There are several options I wouldn’t have gotten in 2023. My xl to me is like a Cadillac. I’m 48 years old and this is only my second vehicle with power windows. The first I only had a few months This is also my first vehicle with an auto trans (I hate it).

If you have no money down, you cannot afford a new vehicle - lease or not.
never said "have" .... i hope none of you bitch about costs or packages ever again, lol.
except for a bunch of software glitches, i love my truck. i also have worked for Ford for 34 good years, and thats all i've ever driven in the last 40 years, and all i'll ever drive.
so please dont preach to me! lol
