Ford denied the seat claim because they said that it looks like someone rubbed something on the material. Granger offered to pay for the top portion of the seat cover. That’s another day off of work (already taken two) to take the truck to the dealership for repairs.
They denied the claim for the seat because someone rubbed the material?

What did they say about the paint?

It looks like someone took sandpaper to it. One of the dealership body shop guys said that someone probably used a harsh chemical to try to remove something on the seat.

10-4. By saying material, I thought you were just referencing the seat.

Last night I removed the tailgate work surface to see if it was the same as the paint on Dustin’s platinum. It’s missing paint in the same spots.

Man I am so sorry you are going through all this. Ford is having a bad go lately of quality control and your experience drives home why I would never buy from a dealer more than a 2-3 hour drive from me!

Knowing what you know now after reading this thread, would you order from them or a local dealer that is more expensive but had more incentive to help in a similar situation?

I am not saying you are wrong in your reply to my original thread. You're correct. But the way things should be and the way things are, are two different things...
I’d probably place my order with them, depending on how Granger addresses the OP’s issue. Given all the potential variables during transit, I wouldn’t have it shipped directly from the dealer. However, if I did, I’d require clear photographic proof that the truck is in perfect condition before departure. A simple walk-around via FaceTime or a similar app would suffice.

The same goes for traveling to Granger for pickup—I’d only make the trip once I had the same level of assurance that the truck is in pristine condition. No point (for me) flying in from Seattle to take delivery if it needs repairs.

@BarryT82 @Granger Ford
Look, I know in these situations there are always 3 versions of the truth... but something isn't adding up for me.....

It sounds to me by the way this is playing out either that you and Granger/Chip/et al have had some form of fall out/harsh words you've dished out/demands.... or Granger have suddenly become a typical dealer who ghosts a buyer and doesn't want to know about it.

Based on my dealings with Granger in person and online (and the fact that this seems out of character to both what I saw, experienced and their business model), I'm asking you to provide some info as to what input YOU have had and how you've gone about resolving this....

I've suggested a number of times for you to go and get an independent report from a paint manufacturers representative and by your post from above, you don't appear to be interested in being either proactive or strengthening your position in any future negotiations.

You've stated that Ford hasn't given you a remedy... yet you don't appear to have done anything to independently document the issues and give you a baseline from which to work with in any remedies being agreed to.... why is that?

Additionally, you claim that a repaint "isn't a remedy for their screw ups".

Again, and having been though exactly this as I detailed in a previous post, that attitude is going to win you no friends and is probably going to put walls up...such as refusing to help you move up the food chain....

It would also explain the fact that they don't seem to want to communicate with you and clearly Granger aren't in your corner....

So what is your remedy? I get you are not happy and yes Granger didn't inspect it properly, but in the real world a repaint is all that's going to happen, and getting a baseline is the ONLY way to ensure it is a) completely documented and b) ensuring your position is stronger.

Having dealt with them and found them (amongst many others) to be amazing, I'm asking you to be honest and put out there exactly how you have approached the resolution with them.

If Granger are being unreasonable then show it and let the chips fall. If not....

As to a remedy, I get it... It sucks having to have a truck repainted. But hell, if they give you a loaner and make it all good for you then you should (as I did) chalk it down to an unfortunate reality of mass manufacturing by the big behemoth we know as FoMoCo and just get on with resolving it.

Over to you....
Really good post here! :thumbsup::beer:

Really good response to quoted post by OP also!

So, you're essentially ordering directly from the factory, but still expecting the full dealership experience and care?
The dealer is still responsible for performing the PDI and informing the buyer of any issues found, regardless of the sale price. There’s no fine print that says the PDI and customer service are reduced at a lower price point.

This is either a cost saving measure or a result of short supply on the Antimatter Blue paint if you ask me. An engineer would need to change a good amount of robot programming to intentionally avoid painting so many areas on more than one truck. If it was a crash or malfunction, the trucks would've been fixed from the factory. Maybe that's part of the reason Granger has ducked and dodged - they feel the culpability lies with Ford because it was intentional. Dunno, I'm throwing out a pretty uneducated accusation but Christ that's crazy.

I requested a buyback from ford and it was denied.
I took it to a body shop yesterday to get an estimate and I’m waiting on them to send me a copy.
They had one of the painters come outside to look over the truck and he found some other spots that hadn’t been painted. They’re going to have to remove the bed from the truck and repaint it all. He said that the driver’s side rear has been sanded and buffed so that’s where to buffing compound came from. He also said that the plastic piece between the headlights and front bumper has been sanded and buffed.
I hope you get the paint expert's report, as recommended in this thread.

After talking to @Pilbeam earlier today I checked some other areas of my truck and found more missing paint in the door jambs and on the back side of all of the doors.

Just proved my no upside comment...

Forums rarely prove a worthwhile venue for someone to defend their actions or turn the tide of opinion.

You guys can bash Grainger all you want. They will survive. They will even thrive. I drive by the dealership regularly as I live close. It's chocked full of new vehicles. They offer the same deal on Broncos, Ram Trucks, others. One bad F-150 forum post isn't going to change much.
You are probably right. Granger's reputation is largely built on positive feedback from customers on platforms like f150gen14. However, when a major issue arises and isn't handled properly, it can negatively impact that reputation. It takes time to build trust, but it can be lost quickly when problems aren't addressed promptly. There are countless examples where the hesitation to fix an issue ends up doing more damage than the issue itself. In this case, it's clearly a significant QC failure by Ford and a PDI oversight by Granger. Rebuilding trust means doing right by the customer, which is crucial for maintaining future business.

At the end of the day, paint isn't that expensive. I get when you are painting 50,000 vehicles, it will add up but I'd rather pay $100 more for that extra pint of base and reducer.

Granger was batting a thousand.. I guess it's 999 now..Still way way better than any other dealership completely disregarding the huge discount many right here on the forum have gotten..
