I stand corrected on this, minor recalls for cosmetic items can be sold. Vehicles with "safety" recalls cannot.

New Recall came up for my 2021 XLT today while I was checking for details on the Axle bolts. Guess it's like playing whack-a-mole to get them all cleared.

Summary: ON YOUR VEHICLE, THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN MAY FREEZE FOLLOWED BY A BLACK SCREEN AND A SYSTEM REBOOT. IF THIS OCCURS DURING A BACKING EVENT, THE REAR-VIEW IMAGE MAY BE FROZEN, MISSING, OR DELAYED.

Safety Risk: A FROZEN REAR-VIEW CAMERA DISPLAY AN IMAGE WHILE IN REVERSE CAN CREATE A FALSE REPRESENTATION OF WHERE THE VEHICLE IS RELATIVE TO ITS SURROUNDINGS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: WHEN THE REMEDY IS AVAILABLE, FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL SEND A LETTER TO INFORM YOU TO CONTACT YOUR DEALER TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR. THE REMEDY IS ANTICIPATED TO BE AVAILABLE IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2025.

Looks like a dealer OTA update whenever they figure it out. Perhaps the mobile service can do it and save us the trip.

I wonder if this OTA will require the existing software to be up to date before installing this one?

If so, that will complicate this rollout ten fold.

Maybe just the APIM will need to be up to date?

I'm hesitant to let them do the camera recall work since I've manually done all the software updates and don't feel like having to redo anything...

My truck went in for this recall and the issue remains. The Sync 4 crashes as frequently as it did before. I have an active dog who was playing with the kids and he ran for the ball as I was backing up. The image froze on the camera right at the worst possible time.

Is there a diagnostic screen on the Sync that gives the version that has this “fix”?

Perhaps things have changed in the last 30 days, but I showed my service manager a copy of the Ford document at the beginning of this thread, and he pointed out it says "Advance Notice" on it and there is no fix yet. I don't even show a recall on my dashboard. How can dealers schedule to fix this recall if there is no fix yet?

Unless you know something the rest of us don't, the fix doesn't exist yet. Ford hasn't released the software to dealers yet. See below. Q3 started today, July 1st. So you didn't get the fix...

Gotta wonder if the '25's are OK, why can't they fix the '21-'24's? Oh wait: Employee pricing. All the "fix" parts are being used for new production, leaving the owners of the older trucks swinging. And Toyota's troubles don't excuse Ford's.
