I have an about 2-3 week old 2024 model and I have shared below two pictures. One is from a recent local trip which shows an mpg of 23.8 for 6.6 miles. The second picture is lifetime mpg of 18.9 for 551 miles driven. Why is the lifetime mpg so much low? I mostly drive within town and I thought city would be 22. I only drive eco mode.

Also what is the best view on the dashboard. I right now have only the view which shows braking efficiency in terms of power returned. I turned it to eco coach and it only shows a picture of the truck with how much electric vs gas is being used. Is there a better view that can coach me on improving mileage?

The 18.9 mpg trip 1 mileage is only lifetime if it matches your odometer at 551.3 miles. Regardless, your lifetime mileage includes idling time and testing the vehicle at the factory and the dealership. Everything. It will gradually climb as you drive it more.

My 2022 3.5L powered truck averages around 18 mpg with mixed city and highway driving. On a trip two weeks ago I traveled more than 3000 miles with many miles in mountainous areas and I noticed that my mpg depended more on elevation gain or loss than my speed. The truck averaged 20.x miles per gallon overall. The only way to have improved on that would have been to drive at 50 mph which would have not been safe on the highways.

My other vehicle is a plug-in hybrid that provides more than 80 mpg and that is what we use whenever possible. I have long had a truck and a high mpg alternate vehicle and review the actual miles driven with each. I save on gas and also on auto insurance and on tires and brakes and oil changes with this approach. If I wanted a truck as a daily driver it would be something like the Ford Maverick.

Right but that's very different to what has been advertised. It is supposed to get 22mpg in city.

You will get 22 in the city easily if you drive it for longer than 30 minutes. Your current mileage is far too small of a sample size. Put 5k on it. You have a 500 miles

Advertised MPG, is as per standards the manufacturer conducts the test by and is in a controlled environment. Maybe in a perfect world you would get those numbers constantly. Your truck has to over come rolling resistance, wind, temperature, air density and who knows what else.

If I drive in the city 35-45mph for 10-15 miles, I can pull astronomical numbers (37, 38mpg?) that bumps my average up above 21mpg. Lifetime 6,000 miles. Small drives <3 miles returns abysmal mileage while the 3.5 warms up, usually under 10mpg. Get a few thousand on her and an oil change before you start assessing anything.

My 2022 3.5 Eco-Boost got 20-21 mpg right after we got it. Now I am lucky to get 18-19. I drive it conservatively and keep the foot out of the boost. Funny when we got the 20-21 we were running 85-90 MPH in Texas on the interstates. I now have almost 12,000 miles on it. I am also experimenting with the Eco Mode.

Mine is powerboost and hybrid should get better mileage.

Two things:
It's brand new. Give it time, mileage will improve as it breaks in.
No vehicle in the history of automobiles has ever consistently achieved the EPA rating. This is common knowledge.

That's about the same commute as mine, mostly city street driving with stoplights and stop signs. In the morning, if I hit all the lights green, 26 mpg easy. In the afternoon, more traffic and a bit more uphill climb, 19 mpg is a good drive. Has been as low as 17 mpg. All along the same route.

Short drives like that have a lot of variability in your mpg. How often does the ICE kick off? How charged was the HV battery when you started your drive? Did you let it warm up first? For how long? How many red lights did you stop at? How hard did you accelerate? It all has an effect on the PB performance.

Drives of 30 min or more give me more consistent performance of around 22 mpg regardless of freeway or city driving, not far off the 23 mpg advertised.

I have about the same mpg 21-22. Longer drives get better. I only have 900 miles so far with 22 mpg overall. A little highway driving.

I have had cars that exceeded their EPA, BMW X3 EPA 29/32 i got 33 city and 42 hwy. It was a diesel.

A comment was made about the "All-time" average of mileage for the life of the truck. I was not aware of that. I keep my truck set where it reads the instant mileage. Of course that resets with the trip odometer/fuel reset. If the truck does keep track of "lifetime mleage" how do you access it?
