I thought all the Tuners were no longer an option to use due to some Ford update a year-ish ago? Or are they available again for specific years and/or Livernois? Would love to use w/ my SCT again.
There was a PCM update that changed the tuning strategy and required tuners to reissue tunes.

@jakearb I am guess the transmission logic programmed by Ford that makes no sense has to do with CAFE standards and EPA regulations. Just guessing though. They do the same thing on the 5.0 which makes them feel lethargic until someone like Livernois unlocks it’s potential.

Not sure what you mean, can you elaborate more.

thanks, however if I'm reading correctly, the new tunes are done via obd2 port and not the underhood method which is the harness adapter originally provided... so i'll contact sct and see what the new process is.

I’m in the 3.5 group, but I’ve been running the 93 tune for just under a year now, night and day difference, in power and shifting.
Last night I put the stock tune back in, truck is going into dealer for service.
The truck feels heavy, lethargic, and the throttle pedal sucks!

Just curious about reloading the stock tune, the dealer has no way of finding out about the other tunes? Been contemplating this for some time, have a bit left on the warranty and just didn't want to run the risk of not having something covered.

If they suspect something and dig they'll find evidence that it was tuned. One simple way is there's a counter for how many times the key has been on since the last time the pcm was flashed. If the key has been on 20 times for example and the last time ford or a dealer flashed the pcm was 70,000 miles ago, sum ting wong.

I don't recommend anyone get an aftermarket tune unless you're either out of warranty or willing to be your own warranty station in the event the worst happens.

If they really want to know, they’ll find it. But if it’s something like a rear pinion seal leaking, they probably aren’t gonna run a full diagnostic on the truck.

Sure, sheet could hit the fan, but they have to prove the tune did the damage, I’m
Sure someone will chime in on horror stories with someone they knew having problems.

There generally needs to be a reason to look for a tune on a warranty claim. I've seen numerous posts of people still getting warranty service after tuning their F150 with Livernois. The dealer makes money on warranty repairs, so really they have no reason to go out of their way to deny a claim unless Ford makes them do so. Plus, they'd have to prove that the tune was the cause of whatever warranty failure you might be claiming.... which can still happen. If your window doesn't roll down, they're not denying you because you have a tune on the truck.
If it helps, I've heard that Livernois is the one that makes "Ford Performance" tunes as well.

Livernois initially claimed Ford wouldn't be able to tell with theirs. I don't know if that was due to the way the tunes needed to be flashed at first or not. Looking through PIDs with Forscan, I couldn't find anything about key turns, but there was a counter for how many times the truck had been started, or how many times the starter had run, or something along those lines, and it was still showing in the thousands, even though I had just swapped the tune.

My truck is out of warranty. I do have to take it in eventually for the fuel pump recall that's in process but I don't see why computer would need work until then and that's still a maybe. I'm not sure ota updates would affect the tune, but maybe someone else can chime in.

Yup. Pay to play.

I've never hid my tune from my dealer, but anything I have taken it in for has nothing to do with the tune itself.

I trust Livernois though, so I don't expect any real issues.

I’ve been receiving updates to the truck, with the Tune in, and had zero problems.
