Wow, I'm really surprised, I don't know guys, I have a 2021 Lariat 501 w/o out power open/close tailgate, it has the damper only to assist on open. The "5" function has always worked since I've owned the truck. It's listed in the 2021 owner's manual. It worked on my 2018 as well.

Guy's is the function still shown in the owner's manual for the 2022 and 2023 trucks?

Maybe this feature doesn't work on the higher-level trucks with the power opening tailgate?
@Snakebitten do you have the feature on your 22?

Could this be something to do with the "unintentional tailgate opening" issue?

I'm trading this gimped land yacht in tomorrow and find one with this feature. ?

Dam, I can't believe they dropped that feature, as much as I love being able to lock the gate, it's a shame that the days of walking up to your truck and dropping the gate with a simple handle release are gone. Again the 2021's rise to the cream of the crop. ?

Using the 5/6 key to open rear works on many Ford vehicles. Pulled trim panels to get to the code on my dad's new to him 2012 Escape and it unlocks the rear. ?‍

I've used it a few times on my 2021. Just add to the reasons I didn't want to buy new this go round.

The 2022 F-150 Lightning Digital Owner’s Manual states the power tailgate can be released by pressing and holding the 5 and 6 buttons simultaneously on the keyless entry keypad within 5 seconds of entering the factory or personal code. This keypad functionality is not available on the F-150 Lightning. No repairs should be attempted. The Digital Owners Manual will be revised via an over-the-air (OTA) software update which is expected to deploy in the 4th quarter of 2022. Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.
