Its just the hybrid hate....toyota has been doing hybrids on cars for like 30yrs so they got it down. But look what happened with their trucks....same here barely been 4 yrs on Ford f150s there will be some problems....more weight and more stress on that hybrid

So just so I understand, Consumer Reports, who get their information on reliability from us the consumer, is wrong.

I love this thing.....agree on the cold weather mpgs. Now that its warming up in south Texas im constantly seeing 20 plus mpgs......my 2.7 would get worse in the heat around 15 to16 mpgs
The MPG drop in the winter with these trucks is wild. I can get about 25 reliably back and forth to work in the summer. In the winter the same routes get me 20 at best. If it's especially cold, I am at 18-19, which is what I got in the winter with my previous 3.5 EcoBoost.

It essentially loses all of the economy benefits of the hybrid system in cold weather.

So just so I understand, Consumer Reports, who get their information on reliability from us the consumer, is wrong.
Most of the people who contribute information, bring vehicles to dealers with issues, or answer their polls (ie: JD Powers crap) do so to complain, much like most managers only point out what employees do wrong vs praising them when they do something right. People like to complain. Thus it's automatically skewed towards cons vs. pros. They are not the venerable gospel for real world experiences nor a cross-sampling from ALL owners of a certain vehicle.

That's not to say CR has no credibility and are making things up. But their sample population is rarely one that sings the praise of their vehicles.

However, much like all media lately, I do think they may be agenda-driven or at the very least "influenced" by certain auto makers.

It's not the source of the information that's misleading.
It's the lack of differentiation between a complaint about wireless Carplay and the traction motor in the 10r80 MHT transmission in the Powerboost.

One IS a Powerboost issue.
The other could be any F150 trim or drivetrain.

It really doesn't bother me one way or another. My own personal experience far outweighs Consumer Reports scoring.

It's not so much CR's faults (though it is through poor aggregation practices), but also the owners fault, not so much as to what they're doing, but that the PB attracts early adopters who also happen to be more inclined to be active internet participants. As such you end up with poorly aggregated data stemming from an overly represented percentage of owners of a particular powertrain. PB guys have an unusually large percentage of representation of F150s online compared to their other powertrains.

Furthermore when CR doesn't differentiate between issues found on ALL F150s, particularly around sync, they skew the data. Sync issues aren't PB issues, they're F150 issues so when you see something like "PB is unreliable" and the reason is infotainment issues as an unusually large percentage, it has nothing to do with the PB. Engine, hybrid drive, charging issues, AC issues -- those are PB unique. 10r80 issues aren't PB specific so in that aspect it could get a little muddy, but everything else is fairly cut and dry. The fact they can't separate 'ford' issues from 'PB' issues is just poor data collection and reporting.

Typical garbage in garbage out

Everything on a PB is part of a PB. If it's a generic part/system that all F-150's have those logically should have the same failure rate per 1000 units regardless of platform. PB specific failures would make up any difference. Agreed there may be differences in the reporting that could affect the overall ratings. It wouldn't be the first time I've noticed product ratings that appeared unusual.

I really wanted a powerboost, but I needed some decent payload with the towing I do with my truck. Make a PB with a heavy duty payload option, I’d be all about it!

Well regardless of the negative opinion of the Powerboost by whoever, Ford sold a couple of hundred of them every sales day last month. Do you know how many manufacturers make/models of vehicles average 200 units per day?

(Admittedly it's only a fraction of the F150's overall)

They've sold more PBs in any given year than they've sold EVs, ever. The PBs have also outsold the mustang and expeditions combined for any given year since they've been on the market.

Ford really missed out on our collectively dreamed PBv2.

Edison motors up in CA is making "hybrid" semis and 3/4 ton+ retrofit kits. The 3/4 ton+ kits are essentially some electrified axles, some batteries, and a dedicated generator motor (2.8 liter diesel bolted up to a 100kW generator). Keeping the stock frame and bodies and they'll be doing up to 500 series trucks as well.

I agree about the marketing. 3 of my friends, all long time Ford truck guys. Two, had never even heard of it and all, I've had to do demonstrations of the PPOB, with the ICE cycling, for them to really grasp the utility.

Then of course the stigma of hybrid = Prius (underpowered). Tell them the specs. They can't really believe it until I put them behind the wheel.

Then they bring up that stupid Consumer Reports thing, that blamed the PB, for non PB specific issues.

?‍♂
Been saving situations since 2021. Can even slow charge a dead tesla

After three plus years in my 2021 PB, I don't think I'd ever want another truck that isn't like the PB. If Ford doesn't make a PBv2 or SD-PB, I don't know if I'd ever stop driving this truck. Being a 2021, it has so many things that have since been deleted. The only things I wish this 302A had were memory seats and 4A and I may have to drive up to NW GA and pay @HammaMan a large fee to mod this truck with those when the 8yr/100k mile ESP expires. :)
