Hello,

trying to keep my sanity before I start this project. Lol.

2021 Lariat 501A.

I have the chrome LED reflector headlights and was able to get a pair of the black Tremor reflector headlight assembly.

Will I need to program the HCM''s on the new LED lights?

Thanks!!

Yes they are identical except the chrome vs black accents . Both quad beam. I don't have the existing lights off the truck yet I was debating just swapping the HCM's.

I was under the impression that same type of lights were a direct swap without issues.

I have Tremor high trim lights on my 502a Lariat because I hate chrome. The turning moving lights and I still get confused if that is reflector or projector.
Other than having to aim them it was direct swap. To aim lights I parked facing wall with old lights, took a few pics with my phone of where the lights lined up, then adjusted new lights to match once they were installed.

If you plan to swap to a different emblem, do that when the grille is out for the headlight swap. :)

I'm pretty sure that should just be plug & play. But swapping the HCM's would definitely insure that. :)

The only thing I can think of isn't there an update that was breaking that module on some older trucks?
Can probably assume you have a good one if it never had that issue. Swapping it over might be a good idea.

Yes the BCM update in FDRS was blowing out the modules on trucks with the quad LED lights in early 2023. But that strategy was pulled and re-released, it shouldn't be a problem now. I'm 2 BCM versions past that already.

The 501a Lariat has reflector headlamps. Trucks equipped with reflector headlamps do not have an HCM. The HCM controls only the led projector headlamps. There is no HCM to swap if going reflector to reflector

Thanks. What would this be? This is the box I'm talking about swapping or not.

No, that’s not the HCM. I cannot recall what that is off the top of my head. I think it’s just the headlamp ballast and doesn’t need to be swapped

Thanks! Ford seems to like making it confusing! LOL. When I searched parts for my 2021 it looked like that part was specific for my model. Part JX7Z13C788N

yea I’m not sure about naming conventions and nomenclatures for motor craft parts. They seem to be all over the place.

The HCM to which I’m referring is the one inside the cab that’s behind the trim in front of your right knee when driving.
