I greatly enjoy the factory integrated keypad on my two F150's (in the door handle on my one-owner 2005 XLT, on the vertical door panel of my 2002 Lariat). Never even a thought about an enclosed battery dying at some point, the '05 keypad still works great after 20 years.
But yeah, things change, and I think this one is far from a better idea. The only upside I can see is that at least there's a functional alternative available, albeit a bit cheesy mounting and dependent on an enclosed battery.
