Not being rhetorical. I recently got “The Works” performed at my local dealership and it was reported that it cost $282 for the maintenance. Does it really cost over $280 for what is basically a tire rotation and oil change. That would be a 150% increase over what was stated last year. If this is true, it is making my decision to purchase a maintenance plan look a lot better.

I had an oil change, tire rotation, fluids top-off, 'safety inspection,' etc for $100 this week.

My math was bad, I should have said 250% increase because your cost was about what I paid a few months ago on the wife's Taurus. At least it didn't come directly out of my pocket.

Either they did more than just the standard "works" service or you need to find anther dealership. Historically "the works" was around $40 - $45. The price at my local dealership recently increased to $~55, which is high, but still nowhere close to the numbers you are talking about.

Not that you asked, but just an idea. I usually change my own oil but always use the works when I need to get tires rotated, just easier to let someone with a lift do the tire rotation.

What metro are you near? I'm in the Nashville area and paid a little north of $100. Maybe $115-ish. I felt that was high and I'll be shopping for a new service dealer. At your price I'd expect they at least bought me dinner first.

Sounds like you were the one who got worked. I would find another dealer as the others have mentioned.

I thought the stated cost was ridiculous but it is covered under a maintenance plan so no sweat off my back. I checked the paperwork and nothing special was done and I can't believe corporate wouldn't frown on something like that.

Glad to hear that it wasn't out of your pocket but it certainly sounds like the dealership is substantially overcharging @Ford Motor Company for services performed that are covered under your maintenance plan.

Like any insurance claim Ford wont pay that amount. I just got a copy of a recent dental bill, they billed almost $1400 but were paid just under $700 and I owe nothing.

Has to be more to the story. Our dealership does the same thing when my wife takes her company car, which is an Edge, in for the works. They bill her $95 I always get the better $55 price.

I assume Ford knows the fleet company that covers maintenance on the work car wont put up a fight so they bill them $90 for the same thing a guy off the street pays half that for.
