My last truck had the Eliminators from good ol’ CT. They were really good in mud and snow. They however went with the old truck in trade in

Well, I have to disagree with that.
The back roads that I normally drive here in North Central, Indiana, they aren’t straight. These roads, with trees close to the edge, create spots that get very little, if any sun. Other areas may get sun might be clear. One hundred feet later, you’re in a shady spot that’s complete ice.

Not everyone drives on interstates that are plowed well and salted like popcorn.
As one also from Indiana. Yes. I also agree with this. 55 mph country roads with snow drifting over roads where there are no trees and just a nope field makes slick spots. Some roads around me I’d wear out the solenoid if I was changing in and out of 4H all the time to accommodate for the slick vs totally dry road condition. I usually just let off the pedals over the slick spots.

I think my rcsb has some sort of hankooks on it from the factory, on snow they make it look like Ray Charles is driving. I'd like to get a spare set of poverty stars (stock steel wheels) and put a set of good snow tires on it...

This is my first truck, and t he first thign i did was put on winter tires as the stock tires are horrible. After several winter seasons, i have come to know how my F150 reacts in the snow. In 4WD mode, it is an absolute beast but it doesnt feel as confidence inspiring due to the rear feeling light (I also have max tow so not sure if the extra spring does something).

On the other hand, my MOdel S AWD just feels so damn planted to the road. Off launch i can floor it and it feels very stable even dumping the full 670hp to the wheels LOL. Corners feel way more stabler.

In teh F150, i also feel good accelerating especially in deep snow, but it is a bit nerve racking in corners. Few weeks ago, in 2wd, i was doing around 100km/h (60mph) and i went to pass (road wasnt that slippery), and the tail swang out. Fortunately for me, all my years driving RWD and sliding around as a kid paid off, as i was able to regain control on a 60mph+ slide .. probably looked bad ass from the rear LOL.

I agree with everyone, more weight, and winters, and 4WD in slippery conditions is the best. And take it easy!

.I'm wondering if this is a "problem" in general with trucks. I was well aware of the issues getting moving from a stop because of the light rear end and RWD. That's OK. Either pop in 4x4 or just take my time (I've had a couple RWD BMWs too, so not unfamiliar with that feeling). I also know that if I felt that spooked I was probably going too fast for conditions or the road just at that particular area had a little frost on it or something. That is 100% my responsibility…
Get snow tires. I had the same issues with my truck even in 4AWD. The factory equipped tires, if you still have them, are not worth a dang in the real snow. I picked up a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT 3 Winter LT265/70R18 tires and haven’t looked back. I got them through Walmart of all places for $158.18/ea. picked up a set of 2018 F150 wheels to put them on. Now I just swap them out come winter… which in MN is essentially 7mo out of the year.

I have the Pirelli ATR factory set……..they work very well here in snow. No complaints at all
I find my stock Pirellis pretty good in the snow. Probably the best they've performed is in the snow

I agree the Pirellis and 4H work fine in the snow on my regular cab. It really depends a lot on how one drives.

Really appreciate all the replies.

Picked up a set of 17” OEM F150 wheels on FB Marketplace. No rubber.

Will keep eyes open for winter rubber before next winter.

Had 1-2 more instances I thought I can’t do these AT tires anymore. It’s just too spooky. I frankly shouldn’t have thought I could do without. I’ve been in too many different cars over the years where Blizzak or VikingContact7 have made a massive difference in feeling safe.

I think that slippery mode in 2WD seemed to help. No idea if it reduces regen but I think it was better.

I know I'm late to the party but just checking if you are on the stock piece of shit Hankooks?

Light bed, native rake... all that gonna contribute but these Hankooks are the crappiest tire I've ever had on a truck.

No my truck has the Goodyear Territory AT in 275/65R18.

They actually don’t seem too awful in snow. But if it’s packed snow that’s when they seem to fall apart.

nice. Always felt like Goodyear makes good tires up and down, especially for the price.

probably just light bed and rake contributing

If you want good snow tires, I had good experience with Duratracs (speaking of GoodYear). they are expensive but if you need a good snow tire that is also AT, they are great.
I have the hancooks still on this truck. They suck.

I bought Duratracs on my Tacoma and they were definitely a legit tire but they were too loud. I couldn’t hear phone calls in the truck, ended up trading them for Falken Wildpeaks.

Yes they are loud so there is definitely that. Wasn’t sure the noise was just me or not.
How are the wildpeaks in comparison?
