FDRS TCU WONT UPDATE

did the install
clean usb, wouldn't take , truck screen said it was already installed, clicked yes on computer and the self test passed one of the 5 or 6 checks. still shows for an available SW update.

I'm having this same issue. How does one do a PMI on the tcu? I'm very new to this and just trying to get everything updated after no help from the dealership.

I would really appreciate any help!

I'm having this same issue. How does one do a PMI on the tcu? I'm very new to this and just trying to get everything updated after no help from the dealership.
Click the TCU icon on the left side of FDRS. All the procedures you can do to the TCU will pop up on the right side of the screen and the PMI app download will appear there.

The CAN process takes long, but if that is what it is asking you you to do, then do it. It is usually very reliable.

I am not knowledgeable enough to explain exactly what a PMI does, but if Jesse recommended it, then do not hesitate. If you do the PMI, when you get to the part where it asks you if the original module is installed, select no. The PMI will then pull the correct files from the server needed for the module to be properly configured.

I appreciate the help. I'm currently running the CAN process. I'm currently at 5 1/2 hours and starting to get worried...

I just want to document that neither the CAN programming or the PMI worked for me. I ended up messaging Jesse and he had to remote into my computer and correct it for me.

Working through the rest of the updates now!

If anyone has this issue it is due to an error on fords end. There is nothing you can do to fix it. I will have to get involved to help you get through it. Ford is calling for all the files for the APIM and not the TCU. They literally have no files for the TCU on the server. So the reason you get update already installed is it is calling for the APIM update when the TCU is selected it doesnt matter if you try to do TCU first last its jsut an error on fords server and the way they have the update structured

I have figured out how to work around it but it takes things Only I can do at this point. I dont know what Ford has going on but 3 years in and they still cant get it right.

TThis is the update after 21146. It will be a APIM and TCU.

I dont know. I really do not. But they did. Even back then it was a bit tricky people had to contact me becasue after the next APIM update wouldnt release it kept trying to reinstall the same update so maybe in their attempt to fix that they broke this

The first time I saw it was with Pizzamanjohn i think their name was

Happened to me with this same update the other night helping another member who lives in my city and is stuck on Sync 22146. PMI'd the APIM, did a GWM and when I went to do to the TCU update that popped up after, it failed the validation process. I was in communication with Jesse, but it was 10pm for me, I had to be at work early the next day and I was done. I have to coordinate another FDRS session with this guy to finish what we started. Crazy stuff.

It's not the first time he's solved their problems, that's for sure.
