I just do it myself. This prevents the issues that could get messy with friends.

I’d look at the rear springs to make sure they aren’t shifted. Also make sure the bump stops look good.

Check the rear axle. I once overloaded an axle and the bearing race was damaged on one end of the axle. If nothing else, do an oil analysis on the axle to see what may be floating around.

Wow…….

Note to self, tell the wife the neighbors can RENT a truck next time. I learned years ago to never give carte blanche permission for the wife to go pick up some dirt with my truck.
Reminds me when I was at the dealership signing the lease for my 2018 F150. The finance guy said before I give you the keys to your new truck, are you well versed in the art of “no”?
I asked what he meant, said he’d test me. Then proceeded to ask “hey, I’m moving this weekend, can you help?”
Satisfied with my simple answer of “no”, he handed me the keys and off I went.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
Indeed, what operator would do that! Every loader I have ever seen is very conservative when loading. Topsoil can vary in weight depending on how wet it is, hopefully this was dry.
The operator was a clerk buried in some back office operation at an insurance company that was working a second job trying to supplement his $700/month salary. You should be more than thankful that he at least knew how to work the tractor.

As for the wife, that is a dear Abby question. She has probably answered this 100 times, but I don't remember.

As for the truck, just make sure the rear bumper is still attached.

That is an honest dealership. Keep them close.

What operator put 2 CY of topsoil in a 1/2 ton pickup? Never met one that didn't know better. Fingers crossed for you man.
I know someone who let their daughter drive his truck. She drove it about 150 miles in four low. Needless to say she ruined the transmission and I don't what else. So those people are out there.

I have hauled tons of topsoil with my 2021 F-150 Platinum with a 1752 payload. But being old and wise, I borrow a dump trailer from my friends business. No damage to the truck from misuse , and so much easier on the back and arms.
The only time I used the bed of any of my trucks to haul bulk material was years ago when I had a 1988 F-250 with a Dana 60 axle and helper springs. Tons of gravel and crusher run for a home project. That truck hauled stuff without a whimper, didn't affect gas milage either as it was already in the single digits.

I have a friend whose wife did the same. They're not married any more.

Or even just rent a stupid trailer - I'm all about helping people out, but apparently I go with the truck from now on to ensure proper use
My immediate family has alway had a pickup, since '62 at least. I can remember being the most popular folks around when it came to friends, family, roommates and casual acquintences that needed to move something. But of course that was before a four door pickup became the new minivan. Now, and for the last 20 years, my attitude is "get your own damned truck". But hell, I'm not sure I know anyone without a truck...at least if a Maverick is a truck.

Ruined the transfer case, not the transmission...

I have a 23 f-150 super crew 4x4 6.6’bed. I went to the local land scape place and ordered a 1/2 yard of 3/4” river run gravel for landscaping . When I came out from paying for it it was already loaded. It was about 4” below the rails humped in the middle. I looked under my truck and was just on the bump stops. I thought to myself self I will drive slow and keep the extra gravel. That was 10k miles ago. No problems except the gravel I can’t get out of my tailgate that got in through the holes in the bottom when I opened it. The rattle is very annoying. Check your springs if they are ok you should be fine is my opinion. Mine was.

I saw a picture, it was indeed FULL with a peak in the middle, at least 1.5 cy and probably close the 2 claimed. The picture is the only reason I started asking questions.
Share the pic if you can, this give greater context.

I have a '98 dodge dually, the gvw rating is 10,500 lbs. My friend needed some gravel hauled, so we went to the quarry and had them fill the bed up. It was 2 yards. That bitch was on the BUMPSTOPS. We stopped on the way to his house at the farmer's market and weighed the truck. It was 13,460 lbs without us in there. He was a big 'un at the time, about 300 lbs, and I was about 200, so figured we were at just about 14,000 lbs. Never did that again, but the truck just shrugged it off. Still have that truck in fact.

I tried to dump some out after the scale, The dump trailer wouldn't budge. Had to drive this thing almost 20 mi. With my SR, no trailer package. It did fine at around 25 mph, but it was not safe.
