In all sincerity, something seems off with your experience. Axles have been available since May and no one else has reported being undrivable. There were some backlogs a month or so ago, but you've been down since June. Advocate for yourself harder or try another dealer.

Being stranded on the side of the road versus the middle of the road are two very different things and is an example of the classic apples to oranges comparison.

Getting stranded on the side of the road is not fun and is unsafe, but not in anyway the same as being stranded in the middle of the road.

In all my years of driving, a nail has never left me stranded in the middle of the road. In this example, I can drive to a relatively safe place. I may ruin the rim, but I can drive away.

If a gsm fails at a light or while stopped in a traffic lane, you are left stranded in what could be a compromising situation. If an mtx strips the splints while in the middle of the roadway, the driver is left stranded in what could be in a compromising situation as well.

Comparing nails in the road to a gsm and mtx failure is not an apples to apples comparison nor is being stranded on the side of the road versus being stranded in the middle of the road. The point I'm trying to make is while the likelihood of gsm and/or mtx failure may be low, the risk of me being injured increases immensely because I now have drivers trying to avoid my stranded vehicle and if I choose to leave there and get to somewhere safe there's additional risk.
The rear axle boat will not leave you in the middle of the road. If one of the bolts brakes and your spines do sheer it’s not the end of the world.
You simply put the truck in four-wheel-drive and drive off to the side of the road, no issues whatsoever

Something is most definitely off; unfortunately it's my axle. I've never really had a reason to post before now. I've generally just browsed. But from time to time I've seen people from Ford step up and offer help, which I suppose was my hope in posting about it. Instead I get more or less called a liar because I don't live on this form. Anyway, hopefully that's done, as I think I've shown good faith, and I'm done either way.

Corning Ford sells primarily trucks and they were recommended by more than a few fellow owners. There are 2 other dealers in the area; one in Oroville and the other in Chico. Both are considered terrible for service, although at this point I don't see how it could get much worse. Problem with switching dealers is it's a) going to cost me for another flatbed tow, and b) likely to put me right back at the end of the line on these parts. Not sure I want to risk it, tbh. What would be ideal is if Ford would actually do their f'n job instead of breaching my warranty.

@Varmint700 guess who. It’s slick! I guess it’s my generation and living thru Archie Bunker and Fred Sanford I just cannot be offended. My apologies on calling you out on your story. Seems possible that Jon does have a truck in the shop. Here is a number that has helped many…+1-800-392-3673. Ford Motor Company. There simply isn’t a way that should you speak to a customer service rep explaining your situation you describe that you do not get help. Unfortunately in a panicked and frustrated series of events that lead to multiple front diff leaking repairs, and posts for help on this here forum as I was very frustrated and trying to diagnose in the dark…as I explained to the dealership my call to Ford and they connected about my issue I was resolved quickly. If your stealerships are that bad I doubt you pay for a tow to any dealership you and Ford chooses and most likely would have your vehicle delivered back to you post recall. That would be a reasonable ask based off your experience and what I would ask for based off the information you have posted. Trust the 👃. It knows. 😁 I just simply couldn’t resist. I for one would love to hear back after your call to Ford.

if you have 4 wheel drive

Alright looking at this work order, do you have two issues going on?

It says there is a grinding sound near the transmission/transfer case. But they also call out TSB 23s65, which includes the interim axel replacement instructions. This does not include the final remedy with the redesigned axels.

Is the dealer unable to diagnose the transmission/transfer case grinding?

The dealers are clueless. Sayville Ford schedules an appointment for the recall Sept 19. They then tell me "we have no parts" and make an appointment for 10-24.

I call today to check if they expect the parts only to be told "nobody ordered parts for your truck " WTF ?? I emailed the service managers and no response.

NOW I have to go to another dealer who wants me to bring the truck in AGAIN to confirm what my Ford Ap is telling me: the truck is recalled and it wasn't fixed.


WTF is going on with Ford and it's crummy dealers

When this lease is up TOYOTA TUNDRA.

Never dealing with Ford again. And since I need to drive this POS F150 it probably will be

I’ve had a similar experience. Called to setup a replacement with the new axles. Told them that I had already had them replaced a couple years ago but wanted the new ones done. Asked if he needed my VIN and he said no. Asked him if they had the axles available and he said no problem. He scheduled me for an appointment two weeks later. I bring it in, drop it off, he now tells me over the phone that he had to order the parts using my VIN. WTF? Now he tells me he really doesn’t know how long before he can get the parts?!?

FORD, PLEASE TELL YOUR DEALERS TO GET THE PARTS BEFORE YOUR CUSTOMERS GET THERE! IT WILL MAKE THINGS SO MUCH BETTER!

My dealer is not next door and they’ve had it for a week. This is typical Ford service after the sale In my experience. I’m once again, FURIOUS!

My truck has been sitting at the dealer for 7 weeks waiting for all of the axle recall parts to come in.

However I can’t complain since they set me up in a loaner

I'm not pushing a vehicle off to the side of any road. I've been hit by a selfish drunk and being out of commission for nearly 8 months I'm back at living.

If you'd like to PM me with your cell, I would be happy to save your number and call you when I need a push😄. I just may need it if my leaking torque converter doesn't get fixed soon 😤. I'm not sure if it implods if that could leave me stranded or not.

I'm not and will not claim to be an expert on car diagnosis and repair. I know a little, but I'd rather stay in my lane and stick to my chosen profession and rely on this forum, the internet and my local dealer.

Right, as I think I mentioned in the original post, it's not there for just the recall. I lost all power to the rear, and while I didn't hear any grinding personally, I couldn't even get it to engage in 4WD, so yeah, I have no idea what's ultimately going to be involved in the repair.

Two different dealers in Salt Lake City region report parts now expected in December and that they had 100 on order and received 8 so far.

Dealer called me and said that they have the parts to do the recall work. Scheduled for a couple of weeks from now. Worried that I will drop off my truck, then after a few days, call and ask what is going on? They will say that they do not have the parts and do not know when they will get them.

Sad that I have to assume that this is how we do things in this day and age.
