I have a 2022 F150 XLT with a 5.0 engine. The temperatures in the north east have been pretty cold and I noticed my truck makes a strange noise on cold starts. Approximately 10-15 seconds after cold start the engine makes a vibrating like noise. It sounds like something is rotating, turning or revolving in the engine. This lasts for around 10 seconds, disappears and sounds fine afterwards. I’m concerned because it sounds like something major going on in the engine. I’ll try to attach a video clip and if anyone has had this issue or had it resolved please let me know?

I believe this is normal.

Lots of 4rth gen 5.0s mine included Ive heard do this.

Similar to the hood noise at 3k rpm. I wonder if you opened your hood and did a cold start the noise wouldnt happen.

Active grill shutters moving?
Could be. I have an appointment coming up on the 4th of March. Going to have them look. It’s not the upper shudder for sure because I watched for it

At those temps they should be closed. They might index on start, but they'll stay closed when it's cold. They really love to stay closed even when it's warm unless the AC is on or it needs to start cooling. They're equally as bad on the intercooled motors only opening with throttle applications leaving the intercooler to stay warm.

yours just makes a more subdued version of the noise mine makes. I think it maybe the DI being active at idle. I'm pretty sure it activates DI from a cold start in order to help quickly heat the cats up.
