ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Finally got around to updating my “stuck” 2021. Took 2 full days, but went off without a hitch.

2 questions I’m left with:

1) Is it normal to have all these modules “not responding”? Is there a procedure to get them to respond?

2) ACM updates run through without any errors, but shows back up every time. I ran it 5 or more times and it’s still there. Not really concerned about it unless I should be. Thanks.

And lastly, I ended on Sync Version 23291 Revision 1049. Do I just have to wait for Ford to put me in line for another update?

These two updates are known to be in a state like this. BCM requires credentials and ACM is known to stick around.

On an update spree, doing the APIM now and I downloaded it to the USB. When I insert the USB I get a weird error. Tried with 2 new sticks too formatted as ExFAT. Any pointers till @rugedraw or one of the gurus get online?

I'm definitely not a guru. Usually when I first insert the usb a windows file manager screen pops over. Showing the files and directories that are on the drive. That usb i use is specifically for the fdrs porpoise.
Do you have access to another windows computer to try this usb in? Then reformat ExFAT and validation that it's at least 64gb.
Make sure it works on another computer.
If it does but not on your fdrs computer suspect a wonki port

Name the stick a short name like "sync" . What brand of stick are you using? Try a different brand. You can also use a USB -C stick if you have one. Formatted exFat.

I named it “USB” - it is a SanDisk stick. Supports both USB A and USB C - have used the same stick to update before.

You can also do a complete format and not a quick format. Will take some time but there maybe some issue there.

Keep trying different ones till it works. You don’t have to build a new stick with fdrs every time. You can copy/paste the files. I’ve had a couple that worked once or twice that didn’t the next time I tried.

Trucks are finicky w/ USB sticks and that's the typical error I get w/ most of my sticks

Yes. Start with it that way and it will walk you through when to turn it on/off and in certain cases do it for you.

Can all or some of the updates available via FDRS be downloaded to a USB stick to install thereby negating the need for the Mongoose Thingy?
