Ok, I’ll try itFordpass does not need to show active for it to work. Take it out for a drive and test it. Remember you need to be on a road mapped for BC for it to work.

Hell yea! I'll message you. There's a way to fix your camera button, too. I'll send you a message with details on the rest.IT WORKS! Came on right away. What should I do now to get the latest version?
Sunday is maintenance day.It looks like the first page link no longer has the step by step guide? Am I looking at it wrong? Went to print it off and I can only find the TSB link.
Also my login keeps failing because it can't reach the FRDS servers... I'm guessing they're doing maintenance today.
Any detail I should keep my eye out for or just a general "Its been three years so its not exactly correct" but you'll figure it out kind of thing.Sunday is maintenance day.
It is usually done in the afternoon so try a few times.
First page of thread covers basic overview, but it is outdated on some details.
Some things I figured out on my own.Any detail I should keep my eye out for or just a general "Its been three years so its not exactly correct" but you'll figure it out kind of thing.
This is great thank you! I did this two years ago but still makes me nervous to try again! Some things I figured out on my own.
You never need to start the truck.
It will tell you to do that for APIM and some other updates. Running on external power supply just key on engine off will kick off any USB updates just fine.
USB updates can take up to 20 minutes to actually do something. I would be sitting in truck waiting because these are easy to miss it show on screen.
You can tap the icon when installing update and see a progress screen on the center screen.
I always open driver door and wait for all screen to shut off when it tells you to shut off in FDRS or from sync screen with USB.
Before you start turn off everything you don't need to be on. Automatic wipers being a big one. If not, they will forever be stuck running continuously while truck is in "update mode."
I also turn off the HVAC system, turn volume down on stereo. When I'm installing updates I'll usually hit the dash button to turn center screen off but that isn't critical just bugged me seeing it on.
CAN updates if you must do them they are extremely slow so prepare for that. I was up until 2am doing I think my TCU at one point because USB failed twice.
Oh and plan for the weather. My 2am update session had 30 minutes with no power because it stormed that night. ?
Overall FDRS is fairly idiot proof it was made for wrench turners not IT people.
#1 NEVER USE ANYTHING BUT OFFICIAL FORD VCM OR MONGOOSE. Too many posts still this year with people having issues and we find they are not using correct correction. I think that is in first post but worth repeating.![]()
No idea why it's there now, but was not always the case. I'm not even sure if it's supposed to be there now or if it's a mistake Ford needs to fix, tbh. But yea, it'll come OTA.Hey @rugedraw do we know what this current BCM update is for? Since we can force it with by updating in FDRS, might it eventually come OTA? Has BCM always required this extra authentication?
thanks as always
Thanks I have never had to do that before...I will try that...I was trying to get into PTS tho.@Kanuck Don, you could try what I have to do, use a VPN to connect to the US before going to helm. I then use a billing address of 1 American Road MI (ford's place?)
afterwards, I use a VPN to log in to FDRS.
