could be, virus protection zero day protection could be giving a false positive on the binary, depend on what package you. are running. You can always disable and try again. Also is this your personal laptop or a work laptop (those could have group policies that might interfere also).

I have it a try and still no luck unfortunately. And this is my personal laptop. I uninstalled FDRS and reinstalled it and it still didn't work.

Get This error while deleting sync database. That should be XLT not XLX.

Got by the last error by changing the ethernet adapter now I am getting the above error. Going to try yet another adapter tomorrow.

So apparently your truck is stuck on sync v 20312 mine was to.
Have you been able to successfully create the APIM update USB disk with FDRS?
If yes, then discontinue further attempts to update the APIM with FDRS.
Leave the USB stick in the dash and continue to drive the truck until it installs. This could happen in a day or two, or it could take up to 3 weeks as mine did. Once you see that it has installed the you'll have to purchase another FDRS license and continue on.
It sucks but for the J1 2021 trucks that is the only way to get out of this mess ford left us with. Good luck. ?

Are you using a windows 10 or 11 laptop?
Did FDRS download and install completely, without error?
Did you "name" your USB drive? If so is it 8 characters or less? Names such as "sync" or "update" are OK. Names like "my_sync4_updates" will not work

Windows 11, as far as I know FDRS installed correctly. Haven't got to the point to insert usb yet. I read how to uninstall and reinstall FDRS while keeping your license. Will try that tomorrow when I get another usb ethernet adapter.

That one is good. 10amp minimum and that one is 20amp capable, so you're good with that one. Brand of USB I don't think matters. Just get 3.0 or higher and 32GB minimum. Remember to name it something short like "sync" or "ford".

Thanks, any idea if there’s a max size the truck can read? The 128gb San disk is only a few bucks more than the 32

I don't think getting one that size would be an issue. I used a 64GB to do mine.

Mine did that after an update, then I had a whole bunch of dash lights and I thought I was in trouble. Then I restarted the truck and everything went back to normal and the update was gone, so I decided it was ok and I didn't need to mess with it any more. Not sure if that helps other than confirming that the error was not a problem for me.

I don’t believe mine is making it all the way through the install process, it comes on pretty soon after initiating the run process

Found a UK site that appears legit, I don't see any issues online about them nor their business. They show an FDRS 1 year subscription for $450. Seems to be USD. However if not, it would 581.17 in conversion. https://techroute66.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-ford-fdrs-and-ids-software/

Not sure if licenses differ too between countries, if someone tried activating with the code from them in the US using FDRS.
