Anything noticeable for these APIM updates? I'm pretty happy with fullscreen Carplay so just wondering if it's worth the $50 to get up to date.
I haven’t seen too many material changes so far. It’s a big file (6+ GB) and given the significant change in the navigation data version, I think it’s mostly map updates and some minor cosmetic changes. CarPlay for me seems to connect a little faster. A couple of the edges on the CarPlay map have been squared. I noticed that the balance and fade sliders are less responsive, which I like. Instead of smoothly adjusting they now kind of ratchet between settings, making it easier to control. That’s all I’ve seen. Not sure it’s worth the $50.

First off, Shoutout to @Jesse-Infotainment for doing some hacker shit to get my truck updated over the weekend! I'm now running with bluecruise and full screen android auto after months of waiting. Everything was working great yesterday but today I'm having some issues with the android auto not connecting to my phone wirelessly. My phone says it's running in the background but it isn't popping up on the screen. I was able to get it to work after doing a APIM restart with the power/seek buttons, but i got to the location where Android auto disconnects everyday on my drive into work and it didn't reconnect after the drop.

Last night I did make forscan changes for the cameras in motion and the glare-free headlights, but haven't done anything else.

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing the connectivity issues or if there is something I can do to try and resolve it? Even when it did connect this morning it was much slower than normal and took a few minutes to turn on after the APIM rebooted.

Ford might just beat you to it. The way OTA's have been coming lately. ;)
Hey... great thread... Very informational......

How do I find out if my truck is receiving OTA updates? I changed out the APIM a few months ago and it doesn't appear any of the Sync updates been applied, but don't know if any of the other modules (GWM, IPC, BCM, etc.) have or are recieving updates.

My truck is at the dealership right now having the engine replaced. Should I ask the dealer to update all the modules while they are replacing the engine?

Any help would be appreciated.

You all the way updated?
Like to the 4.x.x stage?

Mine isn't horrible, but streaming music has been interupted, and needing to be nudged a couple of times since the 4.x.x stuff arrived.

Mine isn't necessarily a complete disconnect, or doesn't appear to be, but it is a sudden halt in streaming as though it was. And many folks have reported similar issues to yours and mine after the recent updates.

Congrats on the Bluecruise finally.

Yes, my 5 month old, 8000 mi POS 2022 F-150 needs a new engine because of a cylinder compression issue. The dealership thought it better to replace the engine rather than repair the faulty cylinder head. I know, wtf, right?

Honestly, I’m not sure I’d trust SOME ford techs to diagnose and fix a compression issue. It *may not* have been as simple as swapping the head, and as much as it sucks, I’d probably opt for the new motor anyways. I just hope they don’t break or scratch anything else during the swap

regardless of my opinion on the matter, I hope the repair is swift and to your satisfaction

He got me up to sync 22293 rev 610, which is equivalent to the 3.5.3 I believe. Evidently OTA updates need to pull info from the truck for Ford to recognize the IPC update so I can get everything back to normal.

I did try it again at lunch and it was slow to connect but worked. I removed the phone from the truck and re-connected it and it seemed to have worked alright after. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if it keeps working or not.

I am in total agreement with you AND with the dealership's service manager on the decision to swap the engine. My issue is with Ford and the lack of Q/A for letting this engine get out of the factory in the first place. I am completely dissatisfied with the entire purchase experience of this truck. I've been buying Ford vehicles my whole life (40+ years) and this last purchase experience has been terrible to say the least.

Post or PM me your VIN and I'll take a look and see if I can see anything there as far as your OTA concerns go. There is a thread stickied here just for that. I will respond to you in that thread to keep the extra posts out of this one.

A new TCU update for ‘21s dropped on FDRS overnight. That should complete the four-pack that is currently being distributed OTA as 4.2.X.
So the ones of us that got the 4.2.2 OTA should see the TCU come through as a OTA update soon?
