ECU module programming guide using FDRS

So I updated all modules available in FDRS a few weeks back and was worried I would not get any OTA updates but today got this so if anyone else is worried don't so I hope I broke open the log jam since 9/2022 on OTA updates
I said this already but so glad I did the updates with all the help from members on this forum makes it easier.?

Just updated the GWM. It's followed by a TCU update both requiring a USB.

Both done in about 30 minutes. TCU update did not prompt the update was successful on the screen. I just waited 15 minutes after restart and FDRS said everything was a PASS.

Evidently not everywhere. Go here. https://www.ford.com/support/?gnav=header-support. Alternatively, log into Ford.com and go to your vehicle dashboard. Scroll down, type in your VIN if not pre-populated and then scroll down again. You’ll find a tile that says Technical Service Info in the same place other vehicle information shows up. Click on it, check the acknowledgment and look for the listing regarding BlueCruise activation.

Got it, Thank You. A couple more questions: Does the thumb drive have to be completely empty? I have a folder called SanDisk Secure Access on the thumb drive. Will this interfere with the FDRS files? Do the files on the thumb drive have to be deleted between file transfers?

Did you load the motorcraft VCI software on your laptop as @JEB Suggests?

Got it, Thank You. A couple more questions: Does the thumb drive have to be completely empty? I have a folder called SanDisk Secure Access on the thumb drive. Will this interfere with the FDRS files? Do the files on the thumb drive have to be deleted between file transfers?

Yes, the thumb drive must be empty. And you should do a quick format each time you need it for the next module update. If that makes sense.

I might try tomorrow morning as well. Is the VCI software for the Mongoose? Mine came preloaded and registered if that's what it is for.

It would be a wise idea to put a battery charger on your truck tonight, so when you start updating tomorrow you won't encounter any problems with battery voltage. ?

In 22 there was 4.2.1 that was a gateway
then 4.2.2 was an APIM
then another Gateway.

I dont know if the APIM follows the gateway for 21 yet it just became available today maybe an hour ago. @Caneman88 seems to be the first to get the OTA.

Im pretty sure it will follow the same path as 22 cant say for sure. @Livnitup is installing the gateway now and will let me know shortly if the apim follows.

Yeah I figured they would show at some point.

No APIM followed the Gateway as of now. Maybe in a few days. Think it was the same for 22..

No issues reported from GWM updates.
They are my second favorite update.

I formatted mine. The only thing on it is Ford updates, I haven’t cleared it and it has ran fine with all the previous updates on it.

If I can ask, why are GWM updates your second favorite?

Because PCM updates are my favorite.

GWM updates are great because they almost always are a precursor to other updates, often of which add or enhance features.
