I'm about to restart my FDRS license to get myself up to date, or mostly up to date at least, but I wanted to reach out to all the big brains here and see if there is a recommended order to do all the updates in.

I've seen a few times around this site where people have said the order mattered, but I can't find anything that describes the correct order when I search. Anyone have a recommendation?

Also, supposedly the 21G01 hold is due to modules not updating correctly, or updates being skipped. Is there a high risk of that with FDRS or is it pretty uncommon?

Finally, I've seen a few people who finished everything up and didn't have a maps update or a cluster update or something similar so bluecruise didn't work correctly. Is there a way to avoid this from happening and if not, is there a way to fix it if it does? Thanks!

For ‘21 owners who are continuing to update their trucks manually via FDRS, a second GWM dropped overnight. It is very small—it barely registered writing to the USB drive and I thought I’d missed it. I can’t tell if it does anything. The only thing I can see is that the F188 software version has changed from -LLA to -LLB.

I‘m hoping that this is a flag to the server to free up a new TCU update like it has for ‘22 but so far after a few network scans no new software has appeared. On the bright side, ‘21s have now gotten three updates released to FDRS in the last week or so.
Many people are reporting the "battery plugged in not charging " message in Fordpass 4.26.0 who have also recently recieved the 4.2.1 OTA GWM. My truck hasn't received 4.2.1 and I do not have the message. Could it be the the message is due to the OTA update and not Fordpass? Did the second GWM you found this morning possibility correct this issue in the as built or one of the files the were installed?

The second GWM update did not fix the issue. Still there on the iPhone FordPass app. I thought I saw it appear even before the first GWM update but quite awhile after the most recent FordPass update. It just sort of showed up, like Ford toggled something on the server that sent an erroneous message.

Start with GWM, then APIM, IPC, TCU.
@JEB
GWM first. Then grab the IPC. I think a problem people were having is that the IPC would just sort of vanish in the middle of a chain of updates that relied on the IPC—causing a lot of problems—which prompted Ford to stop dealers from doing any updates that might involve that module. I’m not sure if the problem has been resolved or not. So, if you see it, grab it. Don’t get started on other modules.

I installed several software updates via FDRS this evening. I've stopped for the night, and my SYNC version has not changed. Is there somewhere else I should be looking? It did show any APIM updates.

So the order should be GWM, IPC, APIM TCU then whatever is left? I'll be doing mine tomorrow morning.

Yeah, that’s how I’d do it. But be flexible. Some of the updates are chained and you might not always get to choose the order.

Apply the IPC. That should queue up an APIM update.

I was just showing my wife the same thing and laughing. I can’t figure out where the plug is.
Just beside the Flux capacitor, right next to the rotor button.
