ECU module programming guide using FDRS

@Jesse-Infotainment when updating my truck last weekend, I don't think my IPC update went through. It downloaded to the USB from FDRS but when it was transferring to the truck it said it failed, as I was expecting it to. When it ask if I wanted to retry I clicked no, I figured it would suggest the canbus method but nothing ever came back even after a network scan. Is there anyway to tell is the IPC is up to date?

Awesome, then I was one of the luck ones that didnt have to go the CanBus route. lol

For ‘21 owners who are continuing to update their trucks manually via FDRS, a second GWM dropped overnight. It is very small—it barely registered writing to the USB drive and I thought I’d missed it. I can’t tell if it does anything. The only thing I can see is that the F188 software version has changed from -LLA to -LLB.

I‘m hoping that this is a flag to the server to free up a new TCU update like it has for ‘22 but so far after a few network scans no new software has appeared. On the bright side, ‘21s have now gotten three updates released to FDRS in the last week or so.

If resetting doesn’t work, try unplugging the TCU and let it sit powered down overnight. Worked for me.

Unable to connect to the truck via FordPass and received a message on the sync screen that it had lost connectivity.

Knew it was a locked up TCU from a quick forum search and all of the awesome posts here.

The connected services icon disappears, you get a cloud with a slash through it on the Sync navigation screen, and the weather and traffic tiles are grayed out in the Sync navigation menu.

It’s bolted to the rear cab wall behind the passenger seat. You peel back the cardboard concealer and there it is.

Luckily the Forscan TCU reset worked. Will keep the unplugging trick in my back pocket just in case.
