I'm one who is convinced that Ford has every intention of delivering the APIM update OTA.
But I also suggest that if you are going to wait for it to be? You should avoid this thread. ?

if they just figure out how to use my home internet it can download in 7 minutes at 1 gig speed ! I am still confused why the truck only connects for very short periods to my home wifi ?

If it only worked that way. I have Fiber (1 Gig down & Up), WiFi6, new i7 laptop, SSD USB and it still took around 12-15 minutes to download from FDRS and create the USB.

OTA will take several day and I'm sure broken down into packets, verified, than installed.

No. My guess is only based on the 22 pattern. It seems to align with ours thus far. So possibly two weeks.

What’s the likelihood this will roll out OTA? I presume it will need to come first before the APIM OTA (If it goes OTA) if it’s needed for SecuriAlert to function after the APIM update. I should just plan on another $50 in 2 weeks I guess?

TCU OTA is a high likelihood since they are small updates. The securalert is a Guess on my part. Its not to say for sure. Its just me putting things together from what I know. I may be completely off.

Securalert was introduced in 1.4.0 a TCU update

So possible that will be nedd for those that did the master rest. I dont know.

Your license is effectively three days. You get the day you buy it and two full calendar days after that. It is not 48 hours. So, you have until midnight of the last day.

Great Thanks! I just went for a drive and now it’s finally installing the usb stick for the APIM, after 27hrs. I’m glad I found this thread, I’ve owned the truck for 2 years now and had zero updates prior to this.

I'm going to hold out and wait for the OTA. As much as I would like to install this right now, I really want to wait and see if Ford has finally got their sh!t together with OTA and is able to pull this off without my intervention.
I hope I'm not setting myself up for a huge disappointment, but i really want to see if this works as Ford advertised. If not, I'll be back here in a week or two with my tail between my legs looking for help from all of you. Thanks in advance everyone!

I'm far less convinced that you'll see that monstrous 5GB OTA update...my reasoning:

- Most likely, Ford negotiated a monthly data allowance with its cellular providers and it needs to assume that some or all of the vehicles will be done via cellular

- Even companies like Apple generally don't have updates larger than 1GB, and usually much smaller. Same with Tesla (under 2GB, most under 1GB)

- With communications "burps", that much data could require lots and lots of retries, and managing that is actually non-trival at the scale of the number of 2021 and 2022 F-150's out there

You could be right, but Ford seems to have a plan to do Alexa integration OTA. The message that came with the 3.5.2 update said Alexa integration was coming via longer OTA's. We'll see if they pull it off. I'm an iPhone guy who is completely satisfied with CarPlay and have not allowed Alexa in my house so I'm in no hurry.

Though full-screen Carplay is great - I've been using it constantly since I installed the update, and its part of this same update.

I'm going to be very interested how Ford rolls this one out. It was a 6GB download, I'm not sure how that all works flawlessly OTA. Buckle up folks!

I recall seeing in the notice that because its large, they will be rolling it out a little at a time.

For those interested, Alexa just showed up. Almost a 24 hour delay exactly from the time I did the master reset yesterday. FYI

same for me. Took about 36 hours. No reset done.
