The IPC does use the USB and depending on download speeds that can vary the time quite a bit. Then the USB has to read whenever it feels like it (at least several minutes) and you have to sit with the truck running for 25 minutes or so while USB installs, and you have to let the truck sit for ten minutes cold a couple of times. I was through most of that in a little over 1.5 hr and spent the next hour fixing the verification error that bricked the module and I was using all the recommended equipment. See my post a page or two back about my errors and fixes. Hope yours goes simper than my IPC did.

Question about the update process: If you buy a 2 day license, make your download and create your USB drive (if that is how it works) can you wait to do the install? Or must the install begin during the licensing period?

You can do it later

Would you not need a valid FDRS subscription to then verify the update after installing?
that is a step that will just get skipped over if you are no longer connected via FDRS

A 2021 F150 reported getting the new Sync via OTA. I'll check mine when I get home later to see if I'm showing it for mine.

Edit: no APIM showing for me yet.

Interesting, I did the IPC update on Sunday on my 24 and ran into issues after it "successfully" installed. Not exactly the same issue but essentially I had gateway issues and it stopped communication to a lot of modules. Huge thanks to rugedraw we get everything back up. I did have to do the TCU fix and a 2nd attempt on the IPC (2nd time was very quick). Talk about nerves when it started to go south.

probably the VCI and J2534 errors I wrote about a dozen posts ago.

Edit: disregard, just downloaded 45.5.2 (downloaded 45.5.1 this AM). Still get the “Failed J2534 connection attempt, please try again” and “unable to obtain device connection to preferred VCI device, please try again” error. This is with Mongoose connected to USB port AND not connected to truck. I hadn’t seen these errors before today. And I’ve typically logged into FDRS and connected the USB of Mongoose like this while inside the house and then walked out to vehicles like this before.

I will be getting FDRS fired up tomorrow and see if I get the same errors.
