But nothing was more fun than the manual locking hubs on my 87 4Runner. Who doesn’t love pulling off the side of the highway during a snowstorm and getting out of the car to lock the axles.

My favorite though was a friend’s Tercel from that era with manual lockers.
Step dad had 2003 F-250 with manual locks.

You must have turned the traction control off too then. Otherwise, the system works great at kicking in and getting you grip.

I have the 5.0, and Sport mode is fun, and the tires are safe with traction control on....with it switched off....and I"m talking about a full 10 seconds holding the button off.....the tires are in real danger.
I usually leave it on to catch any surprises…but it really shuts me down in 2Hi, so 4A is my go to when pulling out into traffic.

I’m not close to my truck at the moment but doesn’t the visor have the warnings/speeds for shifting from 2h, 4h and etc.

Nope. It's why I started the thread. My Tundra had the instructions on the visor, but I could not find the info for the F150 anywhere.

However, I think it's a "smart" truck, like others have said, and probably won't let you do anything that will hurt it. That said, I will probably try and keep shifts in drive wheels and mode changes under like 50 and not while accelerating. I think the Tundra recommended under 50mph.

OK, you got me curious. I checked the owners manual and a search on youtube.

Other than the published mph for the locking rear differential, I can't find a thing about the current systems mph requirements while underway, 4WD / drive mode selections.

That which is not prohibited, is allowed?

Good morning- I can look into this for you. Feel free to send over a private message with your VIN and dealership information at your earliest convenience.
What exactly are you looking into? The fact that my truck is doing what is supposed to?

I think it’s also important to note the differences in the transfer cases. ESOF trucks and TOD trucks have very different T-cases. Tremor and Raptor actually have a hybrid between the two. ESOF trucks (XL and XLT) have a mechanically locking transfer case that is chain driven. The TOD transfer case (Lariat and above) is clutch based. Clutches have a lot more give for high speed changes, I highly recommend you do not switch to 4H at high speed on an ESOF truck because there is no slow engagement. It’s 0-100% in an instant. Slippery mode also will put ESOF trucks into 4WD High, so be careful to watch using that mode in rain, I’d save that for snow only.

Can someone as one of those GPT/AI things what it thinks of the resident forum bot ?
What do you think of Ford Motor Companies bot on the F-150 forum

As an AI language model, I do not have opinions or thoughts. However, I can provide information on Ford Motor Company's bot on the F-150 forum.
Ford Motor Company has implemented a bot on the F-150 forum to help answer questions and provide assistance to users. The bot is designed to provide quick and accurate responses to common questions, such as those related to vehicle features, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
By implementing a bot, Ford can provide a more efficient and effective customer service experience for F-150 owners and enthusiasts. The bot can assist with inquiries 24/7, which is particularly helpful for those who need assistance outside of regular business hours.
Overall, the bot seems to be a positive addition to the F-150 forum, as it can help users get the information they need quickly and easily. However, it is important to note that the bot may not be able to provide the same level of personalized assistance as a human customer service representative, so it is still important to contact Ford directly for more complex issues or inquiries.

That was my understanding. My 22 XLT is my first 4x4 and have only used 4wd once while leaving a rain soaked muddy grass field parking lot after a
Cross Country meet. Shortly after reaching the dry road surface I noticed the truck not feeling quite right as I pulled into a gas station a few minutes down the road, grinding as I turned at slower speeds. Since it snows where I live never I guess I need to go find some more muddy roads to fully enjoy my truck

Right? I reached out to that same Poster/Bot about 3 or 4 times with issues that I was having with Ford Pass, and never once got a reply.

Now with a VIN and Dealer Info, because you know, both are super needed when answering a general question about all F150s with ride modes, they will swoop in and save the day!!!

I've seen this message appear as well. Assumed it was normal and I was accelerating so it made sense to me. Do I need to tell my dealer about this?

Love that the Ford bot needs a VIN and dealership to get an answer on this topic
