Hey Guys

When I go to handwash my truck the doors keep locking. Anyone have any thoughts on how to stop this from happening short of pulling the truck batteries?

thanks

Try this and see if it helps.
Take the key fob out of your pocket.
Lock the doors.
Put the fob 20’ from your truck.
This should stop the doors from actuating

Thanks, But I want them to stay UNLOCKED. I did try unlocking the truck and leaving the fog in the truck and in the house. Didn't make any difference.

So the truck locks itself with the fob inside?

The water locks when it blasts the little lock thingie on the handle on the door handle. Washing the mach e which has 4 of those results in the vehicle constantly relocking every time I spray a door. Super annoying. Haven't seen the F150 do it though.

Would hand washing the black buttons on the door handle cause it to lock?

I leave mine inside the truck and have no issues at all. Keys in my door pocket with the truck unlocked

I too agree its the lock thingies on the handels.

Its been a few years since I've tried again, But im 90% sure I've had the key in the truck and the water still locked it.

I kinda understand what you mean. You say you want the doors to be unlocked. You also say you don’t want them to lock. What does it matter if they’re locked or unlocked?

All I’m saying is, if you locked the doors and move the fob at least 20 feet away, the water will not affect the locking mechanism from the spray of water.

While it is mildly annoying to have the mirrors auto folding while washing, I'm constantly opening my doors while washing the truck. Super annoying to have the door locked every time you reach for a door handle.

you probably have a setting turned on that auto locks the truck after so much time? Yes, if you have the fob near the truck and the water or pressure on the lock button on the door handle will lock the truck. But if you dont have the fob near, it should not lock. If it still does, means you probably have a setting turned on to auto lock.

My truck consistently locks the doors when handwashing it. A heavy flow of water over door handle will lock it, both sides. Doors are not set for auto lock

I've washed my truck by hand probably 10 times and once at a car wash (hand sprayed power washer) in 6 months and never had this happen

Glad I'm not the only one. I wash mine at the car wash with the pressure wand and it has never NOT locked while I'm spraying it down. I just washed it yesterday and it locked multiple times. I have to open the doors to deploy the running boards so I can clean them and it's just a pita. I've just gotten used to it but have no idea what triggers it. Spraying something on the doors triggers it every time.
