Hey guys, I am considering buying a ford gold certified 2023 XLT Powerboost but I was researching and can across the SSN issue among other miscellaneous issues. I was wondering if it is still a good buy. I do not want to buy and then run into these issues and regret my decision. Thanks

From the first couple weeks of owning the new truck is was making a nasty grinding noise from the transmission turns out it was delivered low on transmission fluid and was topped up at dealer, may or may not have suffered damage due to this. Then a couple months later during a hot summer trip I lost pretty much all coolant and overheated the engine due to a defective heat exchanger on the exhaust. Then Couple months after that started getting a service soon notification on the dash randomly, tuck wouldn't go into electric drive when this was happening. After few months ford figured in may me a starter and alternator issue and parts were not availed anywhere in North America. I since have traded the lemon for another Ford non hybrid and I’m out just over $10k.

What year was it?

From what I read is that all these issues you had there was a recall and fix for them and don’t plague all PBs. Sounds like you got unlucky and got one of the defective ones

Sorry to hear about all that trouble. Mind you, any number of those issues would be applicable to any vehicle; Ford or otherwise, even other hybrids. Enjoy your new truck and hopefully this time problem free.

Have someone check its service / error history by posting its VIN. Is it a buy-back?

It has a CARFAX that has no service history besides changing everything after it was traded in.

someone leased it in January and returned it in July. Dealer is selling it as Ford Certified Gold

Several members have the ability to pull service and code history, reread my post.

I don’t know anyone personally that would fork over/take the loss to get out from under a lease after 6 months under the contract unless they really had a good reason.

Without knowing any more details all I can recommend is to proceed with caution.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the PB, but I definitely would check service history on that one before purchasing. There is some reason, be it money problems, or service issues, that someone got rid of the truck so quickly.

I've certainly traded in vehicles with issues before.. My 2020 Ranger trade in, was sold afterwards as Gold Certified, and it had a few issues that were never sorted out by the service dept. That's not why I traded it in on the F150, but it made me feel less bad about doing so.
