That did not happen on my truck during this update, Voltage drew down but never any recharge.
Interesting, maybe your HVB was low enough so it didnt?

Did you already get the latest BMS update from a few months back?

I don't think the HVB was low, but could have been. I did receive the BMS update.

OK here's more pictures for anyone interested, figured id throw them up since ill be losing this detail on the app voltage app soon.

1. Starting voltage, 12.7
2. 12:59am Dip to ~12.46 as things turned on for update to happen
3. +/- 1:03am DC-DC kicks on, 13.13v
4. +/ 1:05am, DC-DC on, starting to turn off maybe, 12.86v
5. +/- 1:37am, low of 12.62v
6. settles at ~12.66v after

Thats what is valuable about the voltage logging that little voltmeter provides.

There's simply no other way that you would know that the update triggered the DC/DC converter. And it's interesting to be able to see how long the truck was using 12V power to accomplish the update. About 5 minutes.

I doubt that would be anywhere near enough to draw the HVB down from the normal floor (42%) to the cripple zone of ~35%?

It would be interesting to see if the headlights came on, or if the update had granular enough code to ONLY wake up the necessary components without needing to turn on full accessory mode.

Cool stuff.
Thanks for documenting and sharing. This is how we all figure these things out.

Few other unknowns since we dont know ford's logic in this.

1. Does it kick on no matter what assuming it has enough HVB charge?
2. Did it kick on because i have my BMS set to 120% charge?
3. 12.7v is nearing 90% on the normal "agm voltage" chart, so its not like it "needed" to kick on the DC-DC, but it did anyway
4. This was obviously a super quick update since i already had all the software in place, certainly longer/larger updates will be more interesting as they come through and those of us with these voltage monitors can post and compare data.
5. Sounds like the full EV guys have seen this before us PB guys, certainly they have a much larger HVB to pull some, so not a concern to pull the HVB down too much
6. @HammaMan does bring up a good point about this, so hopefully ford does have some logic to prevent this from happening. We've seen the DC-DC go to 15v with the blower trick and otherwise, so even at 13v it wasnt pulling much, maybe they just use it briefly to help keep the 12v voltage up while the bulk of the load is going on?

I have a Mach-E too. (HammaMan is apparently my pied piper) And it has the Bluetooth voltometer as well.
Problem is, neither my Powerboost or my Mach-E get much opportunity for OTA updates because I don't let them lag much if I see that FDRS has the updates queued.

Thank you for looking that up for me. I will charge it up again and give it another try. Does it help to have the charger on it when it is attempting the update on 12v power supply mode? I have seen that on some other posts about updates but not sure if that will help in this case.
Update on this issue for me. I have tried charging the battery overnight, longer drives, etc. Nothing seemed to be resolving the issue. I decided to replace my factory installed battery (H6) with a new Interstate H7 battery from Costco. I have been driving that battery now for a few days and it seems to hold the charge better etc. The update was attempted again 2 days ago and still failed but in a different way. It seemed to have made it along the path but still may have failed. This time though, it says something different in the update area. It no longer gives me the "Update Now" button and does not seem to have any updates scheduled to run. If I click on the "Update Details" button it shows the Ford BlueCruise 1.4 update and says it was Not Completed. Not sure where to go from here. Anyone else seeing something similar?

Not complete means the OTA failed. No need to do anything else at this point. This has been happening to A LOT of people here and on the Lightning forum. Something is going on on Ford's side causing the update to fail.

I wonder if you will still receive this after your BC trial expires?

Yes, the OTA will still come in whenever your truck's turn comes up in the OTA roulette.

Truck is new to me and maybe was never on wifi before. I had one sync update earlier and just got 10.1.1 yesterday. Are those maybe pre-requisites to bluecruise 1.4 and I will get that later? Is there a relationship between sync and bluecruise such that 1.4 is sync version xxxx?

I have a bluecruise trial until september.

Yes, 10.1.1 is often followed by the BC one, but no one of saying when it will actually be sent.

Okay. Here is the update. After waiting for the BC1.4 update to work out for the last 5-6 weeks with no indication of it wanting to retry, I took it into the dealership today. They were able to update the BlueCruise for me, however when I took if for a test on the freeway, no lane-change options. It seems to be very similar to the old 1.0 that I have been using the last few years. I am not sure if there is something that needs to be enabled?

Yes. You would have to enable the features yourself with FORScan. When the dealer updates the modules, the software they use does not write the config for the features themselves to turn on. This can be fixed by owners in minutes, but FORScan is needed to do it.
