I just saw the onscreen alert in the truck that an update is available.

in case anyone is wondering, it still won’t update after keeping it on a battery charger overnight and also going on a 40 minute drive. Anyone have any tips?
Is it a Powerboost?

If not, or even if it is, it will not hurt anything to "reset/reboot" the whole truck by removing low voltage from it for a few minutes.

Keep in mind that when you reconnect the battery(s), you might have cleared the Adaptive Tables in the transmission, so it might shift different for a while. (not a bad thing). And if it IS a Powerboost, it will not go into EV mode for a while on the first drive.

It is a powerboost & and I’ll give that a shot. I’m currently dealing with a “real” problem and with my sick 2 year old, so if she ever sleeps tonight I’ll try tonight. :)

FORScan won't help, but message me the VIN.

@simon Responding here for the sake of the info being out here. It is failing due to the battery, but the SoC and capacity is fine. It is failing due to the battery data quality being out of whack. This is rare and the fix is a PITA, but it is fixable. A member over on the Mach E forum put a lot of time and research into this here:

Ford F-150 BLUECRUISE 1.4 IS HERE!!! Update Installing Now 1739935422328-lf

From the thread I linked above, this what you need to:

BMS Poor Data Quality

lf I tell you your OTAs are failing because of poor BMS data quality, please follow these steps. (Note: this is rare.) Conditions: The car must be parked with a 12V load of less than 200 mA for greater than 6 continuous hours without interruption. This is necessary for the BMS to accurately learn the 12V SoC and clear the data quality flag.
  1. Disconnect any and all accessories from the vehicle including hardwired dashcams, dashcam batteries, radar detectors, OBD port scan devices, 12V battery chargers etc. (Verify no fuses are tapped, nothing plugged in to OBD port, 12V ports, USB ports, or connected to the 12V battery).
  2. Fully close all windows and doors
  3. Remove all key fobs from the vehicle and place them at least 25' away (including vertically)
    1. Park the car on the street or in a parking lot to meet distance requirements if you have a small home
  4. Disable Bluetooth on your phone(s) so PAAK connections are not possible
  5. Disable any apps or widgets that ping the car for data
  6. Fully unplug the car (no charging of any kind, including 12V)
  7. Park the vehicle undisturbed for 6+ hours (8 hours recommended)
    1. Do not open, lock, or unlock any doors during this sleep period, ping the vehicle, refresh FordPass status, or cause any lights or screens to activate
  8. After the undisturbed sleep period, you may turn on the car for 30 minutes and proceed with the update.
If the above procedure doesn't work, charge up the 12V battery and reset the BMS, then repeat. If it still fails, you may have an unresolved 12V drain issue that requires additional diagnosis.

Now I wonder if I caused this by putting it on a battery charger so much since the first failure. Thank you!

Not at all. Idk what causes this to happen, but that was not it.

Got a notification last night that Bluecruise 1.4 would be installed, I just needed to set an update schedule. Second part of the message was confusing because I’ve already set my truck to update nightly at 0100ET. I confirmed again the 0100ET start time, and the message on the screen updated to saying that the install process would take 1h35m.

Woke up this morning to updated Bluecruise 1.4 via OTA! (IPMA-24.204.10.9)

I’m stoked. Had fun with lane changes on my way in to the office this morning.
Now I have to think about renewing my subscription, or getting a Comma 3x in August when my 3 year term is up.

I got home from work last night and the notification popped up that I had an update to be installed, feature enhancement, (BC 1.4) overnight at my regular scheduled time, 1am. It also gave me an option to cancel it or schedule a different time. Hearing of some of the challenges I opted to reschedule and chose immediately since I had just driven the truck. Got out and did not lock the doors or anything unusual except I released the hood before exiting. Placed my Noco charger on it just for good measure. Noticed it said the update would take 92 minutes. I went about my business in the house but do not believe it took the full 92 minutes but did accept the update.
I decided to wait until this morning to test it out. Just got back from a short trip testing out the new feature. Lane change was somewhat nerve wracking the first time, a semi was getting on I had to move over and there was a cement barrier to my left. No issues, otherwise I would be writing this from a hospital bed. I did not notice much change in the ping pong going down the road however it was nice to see the truck move over slightly when semi was next to me. By the way the truck is a 22 KR Powerboost. Still love this truck as much as the day I picked up my 1 year old truck in 23 lol

I woke up this morning to see the truck successfully updated. Bluecruise 1.4 seems to be a dramatic improvement over 1.0. The lane changes are awesome and it stays engaged and centered in lane so well!
Hello Simon, Thanks so much for the follow up on this post. I am trying to get this figured out on my truck right now as well and have been reading through this group. I am wondering if you followed any of the steps outlined to get the update to work or if it just worked for you eventually?

I just left it outside overnight, without the battery charger this time and it worked. So I guess it was close to following the steps shown

Done. Thanks
Yours is also showing decent SoC and capacity, but poor data quality. You can try charging up the battery and keep trying to see if it works or the steps I mentioned in post # 229. You still have 26 days before the OTA trigger expires to get it to go through.

Thank you for looking that up for me. I will charge it up again and give it another try. Does it help to have the charger on it when it is attempting the update on 12v power supply mode? I have seen that on some other posts about updates but not sure if that will help in this case.
