Hoped I was going to make it until Ford finally provided a solution for the axle bolt recall, but no such luck. This evening I heard the rattle coming from my passenger side when I was backing into my garage with the windows down.

I will say the dealership (Gary Yeoman’s in Daytona Beach) has been great so far. They are sending out a tow truck first thing tomorrow to pick up my truck and provide me a loaner. It’ll be nice if Ford goes ahead and fixes both sides while they have it in there, but not getting my hopes up.

I don't know why they wouldn't do both at the same time, but then again, I know why they won't want to do both at the same time.

btw - which one's Rick, and which one's Dawg? lol

Please keep us updated. Took my truck in 3 weeks ago for an oil change and they found one bolt broken, truck is still at dealership waiting on parts for repair. Ford is making them replace both Hub/Axles. For my repair one of the two axles are backordered. No ETA for the part. I really want to see what your dealership is telling you or fast you get your replacement parts from Ford. There is a special parts order process for this recall. Dealer has no way of telling me an ETA either. Good luck.

One’s broke and the other eventually will be, so I think they must both be Gators. ?

Tow truck?
Yeah, when I spoke to my service advisor he said that’s what they are doing. I don’t know when it broke, but I haven’t noticed any difference in how it drives. But if they want to go above and beyond, I’m good with that.

If you’ve been waiting three weeks, I guess it’s going to be a while for me, too. I don’t mind waiting if it means they’ll be fixing both sides, especially since they are providing a loaner. Fewer miles on my truck.

Just had mine replaced on Tuesday. Both sides, axles and hub assemblies. Luckily the dealer got the parts in same day.
Unreal, something isn't right here. I'm going on 3+ weeks and you get yours done in one day...
Do you have the part numbers off your repair service paperwork? I'm curious what parts number your dealership is using.

The TSB clearly spells out the procedure and the part #'s for addressing the issue until a permanent alternative procedure is developed.

When I took mine in my "guys" failed to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ? and the original parts order was kicked back by Ford.
(They didn't include pictures of the broken bolt/axle)

Conjecture is Ford is trying to prohibit parts hogging by dealerships and is trying to ensure folks with actual broken bolts are being given priority access to supply.

I'm sure there's some explanation for your dealership having difficulty sourcing, but we don't know why.

I still think towing a truck in is a bit odd. Certainly not mentioned as necessary. And there's lots of examples of trucks being driven around with broken bolts.
