Your numbers are skewed...only a couple hundred or the members are 24's, which is the topic...
Even if they've only sold 10k 2024 3.5 ecoboost trucks, that is still only .04%, point zero 4 percent.

Members on my Powerboost group..I have over 16k members...3 or 4 of them have had catastrophic turbo failures on their 24's, after less than a 2 weeks of ownership.
Just because YOU haven't seen it, doesn't mean others haven't..

Oh boy, that looks strangely familiar, I really should update my post on this forum. It's been nightmare territory

You are the second person I've seen mention this, but not a single member has posted such for their truck. At least not that I've seen.

Where is the information (source) for Gen14 Ecoboosts blowing up turbos? Other than Facebook, of course.
I thought you commented on my blown turbo post before?

Your post may very well be the one that I was referencing by saying this was the second time I heard the claim?

Ah, yes this makes sense. On the Tanks facebook group I have talked with some others that are in a similar boat and had another one that dm'd me that is also a Canadian turbo blown powerboost. Sent me a couple videos and is pretty convincing.

I thought there might have been something to the build dates that would explain a small blip of problems (explain the sample size) but it's across several months as far as I can discern. Haven't heard anything about ecoboosts being in a similar boat.

That's so odd that it would be Powerboost exclusive since it is in fact the 3.5 Ecoboost. Turbos would literally be the same manufacturer and part#, if I had to guess.
It'd be interesting to know if the engines come off the same line?

The only differences that I know of would be the belt driven accessories and the PCM programming.

Anything is possible. We've seen a bad batch of 12V batteries a few times, right?

I wouldn't be surprised if there could be a turbo supplier problem or something like that. Haven't heard yet other than this thread but...

Yeah, turbos are from that small mom and pop shop Borg Warner w/ ~$10bil in annual revenue.

Ford doesn't know what the issue is which is why they're throwing schit at the wall like reverting to the 23's plastic rad cover.

The turbos are grenading (aka over-speed) which requires a pretty specific set of events to occur considering it's a compressor which naturally has resistance in the form of the air it's compressing. If the blow off valve is malfunctioning that could be one cause, but that'd allow both turbos to overspeed. This is just the right so it's probably FOD related, but again only 1 side's turbo doing it is indicative of it being something else. They really need to find a truck where the turbo is beginning to fail as it's much more difficult diagnostics once everything has let loose and the engine chewed up some of the parts and shat them out.
