I'm not on Facebook. But I'm fairly diligent at keeping up around here. I might have just missed it, but 3.5 Ecoboost turbos are failing? I mean beyond a rare occurrence?

I think we've seen 1 PB turbo failure and it was on a 24 -- that's some pretty damn good odds in my book given the number of 3.5s sold. It's the only engine choice for expeditions, and it's in roughly 50% of F150s now. There's been a couple reports claiming a squeaky wastegate actuator, but given replacing them didn't solve the issue I believe it's just people hearing more of the truck's noises when they're not drowned out by the ICE running.

According to a member on the Powerboost Facebook group I'm on his dealer currently has 20 trucks with blown turbos. All 2024s. He didn't specify details about which engines but everything I've seen has been the hybrids since that really what I'm following.

I'll reach out to the members who report issues ask ask about build dates.

I'm sceptical that if a single dealership had 20 new vehicles with blown turbos that Facebook would be the only source of evidence.
There are better than 3000 dealerships in the USA. The scale of that "rumor(?)" would be staggering. ?

Or put another way, this forum would very likely have parallel reports. It doesn't.

I'm really trying not to take a shot at Facebook. But there are reasons, of my own, that I don't have an account. ???

I have about 5500 miles on my '24 PowerBoost King Ranch and have had exactly zero problems. I did just replace the tires but that was because I hit some unavoidable road debris and slashed the sidewall so I'd argue that is self-induced and not Ford or General Tire's fault.
I'm on a couple of Facebook PowerBoost pages too and haven't seen any posts like what is being discussed. Still, the engine is the same as the standard EcoBoost and I haven't heard or read any crazy stories about those either.
I really don't think any Ford engine found in any F150 today is the trucks "weak point". They have all proven themselves to be extremely reliable.
This is an important point. The turbos are the same as in the 3.5L Ecoboost. If there was a problem with them this would be a far larger issues than what is being described. Not to mention, I don't think there is any mechanical change from the 2023 to the 2024 in the forced induction systems.

I have 6,900 miles on my KR Powerboost. I have no issues to report other than it runs like I stole it.
I am so close to hitting 1K miles... and then it is full-tilt!

Yeah, that's not passing the sniff test. That failure rate would prompt instant movement on ford's part because it's much easier to replace turbos that borg warner would be eating the cost of than the entire motor as a result of it trying to combust the remains of the turbo.

I get the occasional wastegate actuator squeak. Very occasional. Like too infrequent to be mechanical, but noticeable enough for my wife to comment on it.

I'm no engineer, but my completely untested hypothesis is that it's just extremely brief whistling. A tiny window of time as the wastegate closes that exhaust gas has to be at the right temp/density/velocity to make it happen.
