2021 Job 1 XLT Sport 4x4 w/302A package. Against the judgement of others, I'm an early adopter of the PowerBoost and not regretting it at all. Sure there were some OTA frustrations for a bit but those have been smoothed out and everything works as it should. No cam phaser, batter cooling, turbo, or axle issues (non-max tow), BMS issues, etc.
I'm at 51751 strong miles now and get great fuel efficiency. The efficiency gradually improved as the engine broke in. Yes, there were a number of recalls but none put me "out of service". Having to take it in for the work was the only PITA since there's few loaner vehicles to be had at most dealerships. I have a dealer extended warranty for high ticket items but have not needed to use it yet.
The pictures are from 8/6 & 8/7 when I arrived at work. The first indicates I had stop-and-go traffic which caused more electric driving, but the extra 10 minutes and traffic caused the .6 mpg drop compared to the next day's trip where it was a straight shot with no traffic. And thus, far less electric driving. It's about a 40/60 city/highway drive.

All this to say, I can't see how Ford would have made a proven product worse? There's always the chance a new parts vendor screws something up but that would just end up being fixed with another recall or TSB. After all, that's what they are for. I for one appreciate the number of self disclosures Ford puts out. Much better than a manufacturer just sweeping problems under the rug.

When I was looking to replace my 2016 F-150 this past June, I saw many. PB's for sale and the prices were cheaper than the non-PB's. Did some research and found many issues with the PB's, but not with the engine's. I asked my service manager where I take my vehicles for service and he said if you want to come see me every week or so, buy one. He said wait a year or two for the bugs to be worked out.

The software is fixed now.

But the PB's been out nearly 4 years. And Ford increased their PB production line for 2024. I have no idea if they've actually upheld this announcement. If I had to replace my truck, I'd definitely consider one again but would be sad that I'd not get the same compilation of options I currently have without going up a couple trim levels - which brings $$ along with it.

The 24's are having issues with blowing turbos, seems as if they changed the casting in the 24's.

You are the second person I've seen mention this, but not a single member has posted such for their truck. At least not that I've seen.

Where is the information (source) for Gen14 Ecoboosts blowing up turbos? Other than Facebook, of course.

Members on my Powerboost group..I have over 16k members...3 or 4 of them have had catastrophic turbo failures on their 24's, after less than a 2 weeks of ownership.
Just because YOU haven't seen it, doesn't mean others haven't..

That's true. This forum couldn't possibly be the only representative source for Gen14 F150 information. But it has been a pretty good one.

I'm happy to eat crow when my scepticism leads to a helping of it. ?

Did the turbo failure result in a cascading engine failure?

I've a '24 PB and not a single issue. Talking to my service manager, he's not seen any Ecoboost turbo issues (I specifically asked). If that FB group has "over 16k members" and only 3 or 4 reported similar issues IMHO that small of a percentage doesn't classify it as a major issue.

4 out of 16k is .025%

So I poked around that FB page and found this gem of a post. The payload comments were incredible.

3 or 4, specificity need not apply. We've seen that truck's details posted here already so we're still at 1 shown 2 mentioned. ?‍♂

I don't doubt that there are occasional failures of specific components on any mass produced vehicle. And historically speaking there are examples of suspect "batches" of some components.

But I still believe that this forum is a fair representation of a percentage of Gen14 F150s and if/when a batch failure takes place it is likely to show up here.

No way am I discounting the fact that a turbo can fail on a brand new Ecoboost truck. I'm just saying it's not appeared here on the forum first hand. It WILL if it's a batch, in my opinion.

Your numbers are skewed...only a couple hundred or the members are 24's, which is the topic...
