It's probably true for all the current available drivetrains in an F150, but on occasion I have to make an effort to find a safe place to "work" the wastegates. I'm not a boost launch kind of guy, so I need some room to roll into WOT and let it have a few gears.
It takes more room than some folks might imagine. The time it takes to reach 95mph from say..... 45, is ridiculously short. And you need quite the gap to do so without running up on someone.

These are amazing machines.

And one advantage that I must admit that the coyote has over my Powerboost is I wouldn't have that gnawing burden every few days to work those wastegates? ?
That is replaced by the gnawing burden of needing to hear 7,000 rpm, you can’t win

Give me a 500a Lariat 5.0 with 3.73 gearing 4a and will give a 500a Lariat PB a run for its money and guess what the 5.0 will immediately turn right around and make the same run back in the opposite direction to the starting point.

Had a 21 302a PB and found it's Achilles heels and that why the present truck is a 2.7EB Payload package truck. 2nd choice was a 5.0 with 3.73 gearing.

Yawn. Did the 501A PB win yet or are we still in your Achilles heel dream scenario? Seriously, how many times do we have to see a PB win before we move on already?

Oh @HammaMan, I tried the launch procedure you outlined and wow! The acceleration was abrupt and intense.

Guys, this thread was about showcasing the 5.0 and its performance against significantly more expensive powertrain options. I get that my posts have ruffled some feathers of 3.5 owners (as expected, that happens on forums), but it’s all in fun. Perhaps my “Raptor Cult” comment was out of line, I admit that’s not in good taste. At the end of the day a stock 5.0 beat a tuned Raptor 3.5 HO consistently (every single run) and roll raced (and won every roll) against the PB while being $3,000 cheaper. The 5.0 squarely lost the digs against the PB, I will not even try to argue that point. This thread was to show a perspective not typically displayed on Ford forums.

Nobody said the PB is slow or that you shouldn’t buy one (@Samson16) , certainly not me. I’d be willing to bet there isn’t a single option in the 1/2 ton segment that can take the PB from a dig besides an EV like the Rivian R1T. You cannot beat electric torque from a dead stop. You also cannot beat tailgating with 7.2 KW.

I am helping my cousin and her boyfriend remodel her house after work most days lately, the PB’s 7.2 KW would have come in handy a few times all ready for charging up my tools and running a saw outside :), we are using all the power available in the garage all ready.

Still quite a few owners who haven't taken to the fact that there's literally several full amperage plugs on-hand right at the truck. If it's parked w/ the HVB charged, there's several use cases where the PPOB can be used w/out the truck starting.

I gave a co-worker a walkthrough of my truck recently and there are little things about the PB I just take for granted now but jumped out at him as "Wow, this is a lot of truck for the money" moments. For instance, he noted the front cabin 120VAC convenience outlet is 20A and just shook his head. It's like that...everywhere you look.
Is that 20A outlet only available on the PB? Or can any truck with PPO have it?

Yes! I wasn't racing or showing off so at the line I wasn't in a hurry. I thought I had the boost going when the light turned green, but it had only just started moving off zero. I stayed there for a breath at half throttle and the boost shot up. I then floored it and let loose of the brake pedal with 4H and E-lock on, traction fully off. The truck leaped forward like a bull out of the shoot and rocketed away like a missile! I came off the gas, pushed the 2H button then E-lock off, and coasted down to the next light. I switched back to normal mode, smiled a bit, and my pulse was still racing as the other cars eventually pulled up beside me again lol. I never looked up or around and just casually finished the drive home.

The thread is titled 5.0 vs PB runs!
It is fun to banter back and forth though, and I enjoy how knowledgeable you are regarding your truck and that wonderful V8.

I believe the 20A outlet is only available with the PowerBoost and either the 2.4kW standard PPoB or the optional 7.2kW. For reference, (120V x 20A) = 2.4kW of power. I think the non-PowerBoost PPoB is limited to 2kW and is a completely different design. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Did you read or just yawn through the post. The race is not over until the trucks turn right around line up and go for the starting line. No time for the PB to go behind a current bush for say 5-15 minutes to recharge it's e-go.

It "charges" in about 90-120 seconds FYI.
