I just got back from a 626 mile round trip with my 2021 FX4 with 5.0 10 spd 3:73 gearing. I normally use normal mode on this trip and avg 17.5 in normal. This time I made trip in sport mode and averaged 19.8. I'm guessing it hold s the gears longer and prevents "lugging" of the engine. It also locks out cylinder activation. I am well pleased with the MPGs. Oh and I always use 93 octane!

Wow... nice... I have 3.31 gears and did a similar round trip last weekend. I use normal mode and press the "M" on the end of the column shifter to disable CD. I see roughly the same MPG.

I will add that when I test drove the 5.0, I noticed it doesn't skip gears as often as my 2020 3.5 EB did. For example, once warmed up and I accelerate from a light, I see 1, 2, 3, 4... and when I take off slower I'll see 1, 3, 5, 6... maybe it's related to the torque output of either engine...

Lol for some reason I thought this thread was going to be about towing something huge/heavy and getting all the way down to 5.0 (five point zero) mpgs. 20 mpg from a ripping v8 that sounds terrific... all you could ask for, congrats.

I drive a LOT in Eco mode (because the speed limits and traffic make any other mode a wee bit silly to attempt. Like STOMP on the pedal for 2sec and that's about it! Anyway...). Similar setup; 22 XLT FX4 3.73 and just filled up: my last tank of gas was 17.7mpg on city/country road drives (longest trip being about 40mi round trip, lots of stop lights/hilly routes). Really can't complain - when I DO need the speed, a heavier stomp on the pedal still gets the truck moving like it can (or I flick it into Sport mode).

I have a 3.31, 4x4 and get about 19.8 to 20.2 mostly in eco mode and drive conservatively to maximize MPG. I have about 8000 mi. Recently MPG has been going down by a couple 10ths of an MPG and I'm not sure why?

Im in the same range, but I just keep the truck in NORMAL.
these are my daily commuting MPG, and I’m rural.

But on a trip, on the freeway, in hill country, at 80+, mileage drops in a hurry.
Round trip San Antonio-Las Vegas, cruise set at about 83——17.5mpg

I know my mileage goes down on winter blend gas--maybe that's why?

I average 18.3 with my 5.0 and 3.73s. in summer I get 19.x or did at least last summer. Winter blend plus colder temps make it drop for any vehicle. Getting better/same mileage than our 2014 JK that’s half as fast Lol.

I always use the normal mode and average around 22mpg in rural and city. I tried the eco once and it didn't seem to have the power I like on the highway. Seems like I get better mpg using normal. I use tow mode pulling the boat which is around 4000 pounds and averaged around 16 mpg. STX has 3.31 and 5.0 4x4.

I did a 350 mile loop that I commonly drive. I averaged 19.4 mpg in normal mode according to the trip 1 computer. I got 19.3 mpg in eco mode according to the trip 1 computer. Conditions (weather, traffic, etc.) were slightly different.

18.0 average MPG on my 5.0L 4x4 with 3.31. About a 50/50 mix of city/highway and has 1,000 miles on it. Just changed the break in oil. Actually gets what the window sticker said, I’ll take it lol!
