I have a 22 that’s worse than that. First it started on one side. Dealer “repaired” it under warranty by removing cover and resealing. Now it’s worse 2 months later. 42k miles on mine. I’m heading back to dealer again sometime this week. I could be totally wrong but I wk see if the fluid is leaking past where the axle tubes enter the housing.

Both of you that's not normal in those locations even if the cover was removed, that dealer tech is full of it.The axle manufacturer did not properly weld or press the axle tube on the housing. If improperly spot welded the tube will leak and or have movement in the differential housing causing the leak. Looks like the weld area had contamination when welded. High porosity.

Hello, David! Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to see how I can assist you with this leak concern.

. According to Sunrise Ford in Fontana, CA. This is a normal thing on F-150 vehicles and have denied my claim of a leaking differential.

Fond a new dealer or buy a LubeLocker gasket for the diff cover. It’s NOT normal, it’s a gasket leak.

I'd clean it off well to see where it originates at. As said it's not normal. If it's the cover leaking then as @FaaWrenchBndr said a Lubelocker and call it a day. If it is coming from where the tubes are attached to the housing that is a problem. I had a friend recently with a newer GM truck that it was coming from where the plug welds are and warranty replaced the rear end housing. Do you have the option to get a second opinion from a different dealer?

Unfortunately the leak originated from where the tube welds connect. I have yet to get a second opinion from a different dealership. It’s just very disappointing having my home dealer deny it twice stating it’s normal thing. I’m starting to think they are not wanting to comply with warranty.

Looks like you will be getting a new rear axle if it is indeed coming from the tubes

Not sure WHY a dealer would not warranty a part- does it cost them personally to do the warranty stuff?
