yes either a QA process was skipped or some other detail in the casting process was missed or not considered, so that's probably whats up with the range where something could happen. Guess we'll have to see over the course of time. I'll be buying a factory ESP before my b2b ends. Even if I never have the issue.

Maybe more folks will chime in with this issue, but unfortunately, the sampling might be pretty small just because of this is just one F150 forum, and the # of people on here who have a truck in that range might be small.

Yeah, I already considered an ESP before I learned of this.

Zeigler Ford was doing a promo with the promotion code "PAYINFULL" a while back, so I'll have to check into that again.

I've done Zeigler that way before, would recommend it.

Yes but does that mean EVERY engine is bad in that timeframe, or it could be affected? I think it's the latter in this case.
That is what its says in the TSB---SOME may be affected.

I've purchased from Zeigler in the past on the Ford and RAM side. they are great people, and pretty well have the best online price.

Yeah, its hard to believe EVERY block during during that time has the block porosity.
But obviously, FORD has already seen it happening..

But the BIG QUESTION is . . . . How long does it take for this to surface, and it if didn't leak when we got out trucks (already been driving them), WHAT causes it to surface later?

I just out and check under my truck, and around the oil filter housing area. DRY!

Keep DRY, damnit! LOL

(I love how ford uses a partial metal skid plate under there, and the surrounding is this compressed composite fiber crap. UGH. I can imagine oil leaking out on that in an oil change and soaking in the fibers / Gotta cut corners where ever they can. :-\ ).

Again. This likely won’t be many engines. I’m not scared, although I did check it this morning. I would not worry if you don’t have a leak. This kind of thing happens with variance, something gets out of tolerance in the manufacturing process or the allowable tolerance was too large. However every single unit will have its own value within the set of allowable variances. For all we know it is 1 in every 300,000 motors that have the issue. This hasn’t been very widespread or noticed.

When the 5.0 was burning oil and the 3.5 Eco was eating camphasers in the 18-20 years it was EVERYWHERE. You saw threads 24/7 before a TSB was ever realized. A TSB doesn’t necessarily denote common occurrence, it just means it’s happened a few times and Ford has taken note. Same with that parking pawl recall. It was like 200 trucks effected out of 1,000,000 lol.

Don’t think the sky is falling down.

Is there a website where I can find all of the TSB's?
Oasis internal from ford is the best one, but there are some websites online that seem to have a lot of TSBs captured from ford directly, if you know the TSB #

It doesn’t seem like anyone on this board has reported having this issue yet, which is great.
My truck is going in for an oil change today and its build date falls within the window listed on the tsb.
My question; is the “inspection area” from the tsb an obvious place they look when conducting the “83 point inspection”? If not, do you think they will have the foresight to check there, especially if the truck is a potential victim?

I would just mention it to the service advisor so that they definitely look at the area in question.

Funny you say that. I asked them yesterday if they could. I was told an inspection for a tsb is a separate appointment and needs to be booked. If the issue doesn’t exist, I need to pay for the apt. I’m assuming the service person has no clue what I’m talking about and is just following protocol. That’s why I’m wondering if a technician would come across it during a routine oil change and inspection.

That behavior drives me insane, it's literally going to be part of the process to change the oil, they're going to either drive over a pit or put it in the air and change the oil and filter, and look right in there. it would take 13 seconds.

Then dealerships wonder why the general public has so much disdain for them. clown show.

Interesting there hasn't been more talk on this. Maybe it wasn't the widespread issue it appeared. then again, this forum is a small representation of all F150 5.0 owners.

in my experience the oily/leaky parts of the engine are the only ones that will never corrode
