What a day my friends. So I’m noticing that the oil drain plug is got a slow leak, after I changed the oil. Yes the plug is tight. The truck is a 22 with 55k miles on it. Is it normal to replace the oil plugs on these 5.0s every so often? It looks like the rubber gasket is in good shape.

Looks good, but you don't know---I would get another gasket and call it good! should be all you need--I cannot see the plug being bad at all

I had read that these plastic plugs should be replaced after an oil change. I toss the old ones just to be safe.

So after replacing the drain plug, even wrapping the threads in teflon. The drain plug is still seeping. The surface is clean so, I’m breaking down and taking it into the dealership.

Should just be the rubber o ring on the bolt. Replacing the plug why? You just need the little o-ring seal that goes under the bolt head. Unless you stripped or crossed the threads. If you did that yes it can leak, and will need a new pan.

Yeah the plug was only $4.50. So I imagine something is wrong with the threads in the pan. The plug was on pretty tight when I went to change it. But I’ve only owned this F150 for about 9 months. The previous owner might have messed something up ?‍♂
