5.0L Extra Sheet Metal Piece Below Drain Plug

2022 F150 XLT - Anyone know the purpose of this extra metal piece held on with 2 bolts to the cross member, below the oil pan drain plug? It has two metal clips toward the back that make me think another plate could be bolted one, but this is the way my came. It seems like it was removed it would be a bit easier to get to the drain plug. Thanks!

Same on mine, my guess is that it was for the underbody FX4 protection (but not sure)

It is for a skid plate. I added one to my truck and used those clips to attach my skid plate.

At the last oil change I removed the plate, and used a jig saw to cut off the back half towards the oil plug, and reattached so that it holds the fabric piece in front. I will never put a rock guard on so the back half only got in the way when changing the oil which I do myself.

Looks like it is for skid plates or the cloth

Same on mine, my guess is that it was for the underbody FX4 protection (but not sure)
