Wow I hope that you can find help with this and admire your courage!
Can I ask what model year was this a F-150 and how many miles were on the original transmission?
I have the same year same engine and have not heard it
Can you hear it while driving?
I’ve really never heard my turbos for that matter but I don’t push it to floor much
I’ve only got 13K though
I agree the F150 is amazing in MPG as compared to pickups of the past
I would say that my F150 mpg readings are always off
If it reads 22 mpg hand calculations always show it’s more like 20.5
On only one occasion did it go the other way
Even with the error it’s still excellent
Just thinking these trucks automatically go from drive to park as a safety feature if you cut the key off in drive when parking
You hear the electric motor and watch it move the lever into park and that step might have been eliminated to allow this?
On my 22 STX with old school shifter on steering column has no lock when going from forward to reverse
In the old days to go from forward or neutral to reverse it would hit a step-up meaning you had to pull back on level to go into reverse
I know if you were driving 30 mph and it went into...
It’s a little rock rubbing in the brake caliper backing plate and hitting the brakes has no effect on the noise because it rubs regardless
Had a couple of these over the years
My guess
Another thing about the copper reactive to aluminum
I put a new transom wood core in my boat
Years ago treated wood used arsenic in some minute amounts to treat the wood along with other chemicals
It was outlawed at some point and guess what they use now?
Copper so I was unable to use it...
Well that makes sense
I always use the silver AS in everything from the lawnmower to everything
One important thing I see all the YouTube mechanics miss
When you crack a spark plug loose you always end up with some flaky rust around the base of the plug
I always hit it with the air hose
Then...
I’m a big believer in anti-seize it actually comes in an aluminum or copper formula
Have you heard it’s a bad idea?
I also have not heard of adjusting where they end up it must be a new thing
My whine is only on coasting as well
Tap throttle and is gone
Switch to 4H and gone as well
They seem to get paid not to hear anything unless tranny falls in the road
Supposedly had listening sensors on several points on driveline
22 STX
2.7 engine
11K miles
No fluid change
Transmission has been excellent with the exception of jumping in truck hit drive without waiting a short while for it to idle will slip like crazy in Drive but not reverse and ambient temps don’t matter just 1st start of the day
Give it 30 seconds...
Every now and then when slowing to a stop light I feel a harder than usual clunk into 1st gear but it’s not rough enough to bring it in and I’m sure it would be wasted trip
It amazes me no one else is hearing this
Road noise from rough road surfaces or noisy tires tend to override the noise
These trucks are so quiet as compared to the Tacoma I came from
Crazy
You don’t have a definite answer to what’s wrong
If something is out of tolerance from the factory why didn’t it leak while in warranty?
Which engine do you have?
