I’ve mentioned this early on on my 2.7 STX but thought I’d bring it up again
It’s a overdrive big truck sing
Hard to describe but I’ve heard it in all semi type trucks
HD bikes had issues with a similar noise in 07 when they went to the 6sp transmission
Any time I’m coasting from 40mph up I hear a high pitch whine or sing that seems to be coming from left rear wheel area but possibly from anywhere noises are hard to locate
Shifting to 4 High stops it
Hitting the throttle stops it
It’s only got 12K miles and has become a little more noticeable
Dealer checked it early on and of course found nothing
My hearing is half gone and I can hear it with the radio on
I recently test drove a new 24 truck XLT with the 3.5 engine and I heard a slight bit of the same noise but much less noticeable
Anyone else heard this?
Appreciate any help on this

Is it the turbo spooling under load that you are hearing? That is what a big semi diesel trucks does too with their large diesel turbocharged engines.

It’s always with zero throttle so I wouldn’t think turbos would be working and even right before coasting it’s from very light throttle on cruise

It amazes me no one else is hearing this
Road noise from rough road surfaces or noisy tires tend to override the noise
These trucks are so quiet as compared to the Tacoma I came from

Could it be axle hum under light throttle or deceleration. This example is for a worm gear but the noise can be similar on a newer axle but obviously less and you may hear it on deceleration or light throttle only. All my trucks make some noise similar to this which is normal.

Thanks JC
This video is exactly the opposite of what I’m trying to describe
