Truck sitting a lot under 9K miles
Been reading about all suggestions for batteries and heard get size 8 AGM
I looked at book today and AGM size 6 is what my truck takes.$200 at Walmart
My truck always starts good but I’ve had few unexplained gremlins with screens
I’ve had 2 small trickle chargers Tender Jr and another 3 amp
Green light shines solid for complete charge but voltage is 12.2-12.25V
I’m thinking it should be closer 12.7
I just put old school charger on 6/2 amp at at 6 amps it’s showing 13V while charging
Am
I doing something wrong or is battery bad although it starts great
Thanks

4 months after delivery (2021) I got some funny warnings on the electrical system. As I was on the road for Thanksgiving travels I just pulled in to a local NAPA dealer (I'm partial to NAPA) and bought an off the shelf specified battery (an AGM type). Have not had a peep since out of the electrical system since then. No trickle chargers or anything else like that. This includes two Wyoming winters where it gets down to -30ºF. Unless your time standing goes into weeks, I think you should just get a new battery and be done with things. If you get a new battery, you might give it what I call a wetting down charge, a low rate long term charge, say 2 amps for 8-12 hours.

Thanks Gros
My vehicle is not essential at this point and it always starts good cranking speed
I’m just not understanding with 2 smart chargers why they cycle and finish with 12.2 V
Your advice is sound and I’m sure I’ll end up with new battery

You can go with H6 but when H8 fits why not take the extra capacity?

Double check but every non Powerboost should have plenty of room on battery tray. I think this time of year there is a post daily about batteries. :)

I think all the 21-23 F150 except power boost have the same battery tray, which does accept a 850cca AGM Battery - I just upgraded to the 850cca after about 3 years, I wasn't having any issues and never had to trickle charge etc - but I can hear a clicking noise like almost like a blend door or the BOO (break on off switch) clicking, it's a "soft click sound" that happens about every 20-30 minutes. I have pro power with 2 alternators, no issues just figured with all the electrics I'd go with the Ford big boy battery - link in my sig.. I used my Ford points.

Thanks!
I see I can use the big battery but still would like to know what the normal battery voltage should be after it sits for a week
It spins quickly and starts easily on the 12.2 volts but in past for a non AGM typical battery I’m used to seeing around 12.5 volts or a bit more
Also curious what the minimum voltage required for regular updates
Thanks Again!

I’d hate to spend $300 for big size 8 battery and still see 12.2 volts after sitting week or 2?
