Looks like the value of the newer Platinum's and King Ranches just went up. I have a 23 Platinum. So now 24's can't get a V-8 motor. That's a real turnoff, at least for me.. and I'm assuming a ton of others. But I do like those 22-inch wheels. I'm going to attempt to buy a set of these new 24 (22 inch) wheels and tires to put on my 23 Platinum 5.O/3.73. That way I can put aggressive threads on my old 20's for Ohio winter and put new 22's on for summer.

Ford is planing to go deep into the subscription model. They hired Apple veteran Peter Stern to lead a newly created division focused on developing and marketing software-enabled customer experiences for the automaker. He reports directly to Farley.

Monetizing emerging software offerings such as advanced driver-assist systems as well as other safety and convenience features is viewed as a major challenge for automakers, as they try to increase reoccurring revenue through software subscriptions. Ford revenue from current software services is in the hundreds of millions of dollars, with gross margins of more than 50%. He said the company has roughly 550,000 paid subscribers.

“We expect to 10x that in the coming years just based on the growth we see.” - Farley

We all need to give Ford the finger on subscriptions and not buy a damn thing there making billons and want to charge us more. FORD get ride of Farley

Add Ford and the 360 cameras to that list now
The only good thing is that I guarantee Ford will half ass their DRM and it will likely take ten minutes to subvert.

It’s going to be like cable TV back in the day. Where they didn’t really care too much about how many customers were getting free channels as long as most people pay.

If the feature is on the vehicle you have bought and you have to pay extra to make it work you are paying twice for it.

The front ends and taillights just aren’t doing it for me. Maybe it’ll be different once I see them for real but right now the visual appeal of this refresh is just meh.

Both the Platinum and Platinum Plus or just the Platinum Plus?
I haven't looked, but I figure wherever the HUB is optioned. They lifted it right from the Super Duty, which is the reason for the dash change from the other trims.

I saw a comment about no HDPP. The 24 is advertised as having "best in class payload" and I think the mentioned figure was like 2400lbs, which leads me to believe HDPP is still alive and kicking. I'd blame some of the confusion today on the configurator rollout.
They can still say this without HDPP because Chevy is the closest at like 2300lbs. TFLTruck addressed this claim specifically in their vid.

I've always like the look of KR and for sh*ts and giggles configured one. At 79k with PB engine (literally only option I've added), this disturbing thing caught my eye:

So I clicked on it:

I don't think these are blind spot cameras like Hyundai/Kia has upon turn signal activation. This is part of the normal views you get with a 360 now, isn't it?

I hope I'm wrong, but if I'm right, we're here yo. Subscription for camera views.
I thought manufacturers learned their lesson when BWM got crap for heated seats subscription?
I think we need more clarification on the subscription bullshit they're trying to shift towards.
Nothing here says subscription, and the fact that you can get a KR with "Full Activation" means what I thought they were doing is probably correct: you can basically "purchase the option later." There have even been comments from people on the board who wish they had optioned 360 cam, or missed doing so by accident. Ford gets people to use it this way who may not have optioned it because "I dun need it," but then get them later when they see the value.

EDIT: Looking at order guide 360 cam package was deleted, so I'm assuming every model will have the cams installed. It's called out specifically in the XLT standard equipment:

Ford F-150 2024 F-150 Refresh Revealed! New Design, Tech, Base 2.7L EcoBoost Engine, Pro Access Tailgate 1694625006519

Also while they change the logo, looks like illuminated is an option On Lariat+:

Glad i ordered my 22 RCBS when i did.

Good:
5.0 3.73 w/locker is only power train. Cant argue with this.

Bad:
No STX
No Fx4
No Snow plow prep
No Tow
Co-pilot 360 required.

Would be looking at another brand if i was ordering today.

We just got out of our '17 and into a '21 PB, so we aren't even in the market for considering these changes/upgrades, but I like to play with the configurators.

Subscriptions for things that don't require connectivity is a pure money grab; there's absolutely no benefit to the consumer at all. What happens if you don't take subscription? You keep awkward looking cameras all around your vehicle but they don't do camera things? If I was in the market for a new truck this year then this "subscription" would be the immediate deal breaker.

Yes to this. I suspect this BS subscription for non-connected accessories (like 360 cameras) will be jailbroken in a heart beat to Ford's blissful annoyance :)

So the xlt i optioned to be like my 22 was 61k. my 22 was 57k. So not much difference. But when I add in some stuff that I now think i might have found useful, it goes up from there. But nothing that I can't live without.

I might be ok with paying a subscription on something like updates that add functionality to the current systems, but paying a subscription to keeping a built in system running is out of the question. That would be like buying a lamp but the on/off switch only works if you pay a monthly fee.

This makes me wonder if the network connection will be subscription based as well. So if you pay for the 360 cam but forget to pay for the network connection you loose the cameras. What happens if you pay and then go into a no coverage zone for a couple months??

Happy I have my 22 PB Platinum...nothing (except perhaps the new tailgate) really trips my trigger. If the heads-up display is like in my wife's Toyota Venza you won't be able to use it with polarized sunglasses. And count me out on any subscription based accessories.
