No Sport Appearance Package!? I can't believe it. So you can only get chrome bumper? That's a bummer!

I have mixed feelings. Some things I really like. Love the tailgate. I miss this option from the MFT I had on my '21 Ram. For use case, loading into the bed of the truck with the tailgate not in the way is a huge win, but not enough to move me out of my '21 Lariat Powerboost. To me the big miss here is that you can't get it on an XLT. I'm hoping they change that as, I plan to move to move back to an XLT. Ford....add a rear seat arm rest on the XLTs please.

I love the no cost option of the Powerboost. This combo between power and efficiency is a big bonus to me. Although I do wish they came out with the PHEV version. I'd love to get 20-30 miles of electric use only.

In terms of looks, I like the refresh more than I expected. I don't feel like it dated the '21-'23 models at all which is a good thing. The only trim I think they messed up on is the XLT. It looks fine in a sport trim with painted bumpers, but for those who like some chrome might be disappointed. it makes no sense to have a black grille. It looks like someone mistakenly put an XL grill on the XLT.

My issue with this new truck, and maybe its always been this way but, if I want the 36 gallon tank, I can't have powerboost or either of the 2 pro power options. Though maybe its limited by the 5.5 ft bed?

We just got out of our '17 and into a '21 PB, so we aren't even in the market for considering these changes/upgrades, but I like to play with the configurators.

I've always like the look of KR and for sh*ts and giggles configured one. At 79k with PB engine (literally only option I've added), this disturbing thing caught my eye:

I don't think these are blind spot cameras like Hyundai/Kia has upon turn signal activation. This is part of the normal views you get with a 360 now, isn't it?

I hope I'm wrong, but if I'm right, we're here yo. Subscription for camera views.
I thought manufacturers learned their lesson when BWM got crap for heated seats subscription?

I have a '22 anyway. I don't change up my vehicles that often to be considering a '24.
So is the tailgate step no longer a thing? Replaced with this new tailgate?
I'll wait and see what the next gen looks like and revaluate my needs.
If I don't need to go 1 ton (towing / hauling needs for camping) I'll do like I did when I got this truck.
Evaluate all makes / models and see what works.
The Ram with a TT I-6 looks pretty intriguing....
Tundra subscription to use remote start after the trial played a role in me going F150 in '22.
So if Ford wants to play the subscription game, I'm out. (Have 360 cams on this truck and love 'em but wouldn't pay a subscription... that's dumb. It's an option I want to pay for and be done with)

Looks like you get painted bumpers when you add the BAP package, but then you don't get dynamic bending headlights...which I find is odd.

Disappointing that you cannot get massaging seats and a v8. The tailgate alone is enough for me to want to upgrade from my 22 Plat to a 24...

Kind of shocking considering I don't believe I've seen m(any) Platinums where people have opted for the non-powerboost v6.

At least they got rid of the red / brown interior on the Lariat.
The question can we swap a 23 tailgate on to a 21+? Everything I can live without. But adding the tailgate to my 21 king ranch would be nice.

The configurations are very odd. So If I want a king ranch or a platinum, with 7.2 pp, I can get a 30 gallon tank. Yay, everywhere else its 23 gallon with the short bed. But if I add the tow mirrors I lose the powerboost engine and all the PP stuff. What do tow mirrors have to do with that?

Yeah, a lot of odd configurations. A Powerboost with 23 gallon tank (on any trim below King Ranch) is not good. I imagine a lot of people who wants a Powerboost is the ability to power a house, a camp site or power tools, etc. It won't do much good if it drains your tank much faster.

Ford is planing to go deep into the subscription model. They hired Apple veteran Peter Stern to lead a newly created division focused on developing and marketing software-enabled customer experiences for the automaker. He reports directly to Farley.

Monetizing emerging software offerings such as advanced driver-assist systems as well as other safety and convenience features is viewed as a major challenge for automakers, as they try to increase reoccurring revenue through software subscriptions. Ford revenue from current software services is in the hundreds of millions of dollars, with gross margins of more than 50%. He said the company has roughly 550,000 paid subscribers.

“We expect to 10x that in the coming years just based on the growth we see.” - Farley

Yea, they def are, that's why I mentioned it, I just noticed it on the 360cam as it jumped out at me. It's a scary though thinking everyone that bought a 360deg camera will have to pay a subscription to freaking use it.

I know Toyota kind of got away with it as far as I know for now, BWM caught a lot of flack. I think every reviewer needs to put this out there and shame the companies that are doing this.
BlueCruise, I understand - mapping of the roads and updates take some effort.

But to put a physical equipment behind a paywall is BS.

I saw a comment about no HDPP. The 24 is advertised as having "best in class payload" and I think the mentioned figure was like 2400lbs, which leads me to believe HDPP is still alive and kicking. I'd blame some of the confusion today on the configurator rollout.

The tailgate is pretty unbelievably dumb...

Pretty shocked at how bad the lower trims look. The restriction of certain features to certain trims like the 2.7 and 5.0 isn't smart.
A stripped regular cab HDPP in RWD is going to have a payload of over 3,000LBS.

My 4X4 XLT with power driver’s seat and all of the other available options has 2,900LBS as its payload.

Hopefully the tailgate won’t be known as the multi-break tailgate. It does make sense for people that use their trucks like station wagons.

The ugly ass XL and XLT grille reminds me of the old 90’s C/K 1500 W/T trim; where you get sealed beam headlights and a one piece unpainted ABS grille.

They’re making the lower trims as cheap as possible.

The XLT looks the worst with its chrome bumper and black plastic grille. Almost like they forgot to add something.

The 4” and 8” screens were punitively added to the lower trims to make the 12” a carrot on a stick. It likely cost Ford more money to have the smaller screens as other than materials, it costs about the same to make a small screen as a normal sized one. Ditching the small screens will save them money.

Higher trims might be the same MSRP more or less as similarly equipped 2023 trucks but the lower trims and base trucks are getting punished. Ford’s usually pretty shifty with offering their base trucks at a low MSRP and then the options cost more. Hard to do though when you’re forced into the 2.7 twin turbo engine. I’ve bumped into a lot of single cab owners who opted for the 3.3 because they don’t need to tow and really want bed space over payload.

Then the biggest jump is in the lowest cost Powerboost:

Not only does it force 4X4 but it removes the front bench seat, so seating capacity is lost. The base XL Powerboost was something that I was thinking of getting as an alternative to a new three row SUV. I guess it’s not a worry anymore!

Yeah, the subscription for heated seats and intermittent wipers has got to be the most evil shit in recent memory.

In thought bmw just reneged on all the subscription crap.

I hate when people say this. But I think I'll keep my 22 for a long time or not going Ford next time.

I do like the 5.0 rcsb 2wd 3.73 being standard with the 12" screen though. Looks like it has everything id want in a sport truck as a starting point. That could be very cool. We will see in 3 years when my truck is paid off.
